Gotta credit that design to Picard Season 1
it was seen there first, but do we know it actually originated with the Picard production team?

Yes, as Christopher said. Plus it was (re)designed by John Eaves, who didn't work on SNW.but do we know it actually originated with the Picard production team?
Given that the BoP's first appearance in Picard was in an episode that aired February 2020, three months before SNW was even announced, I see no reason to doubt it.

The Pic S1/SNW BoP was at the Fleet Museum in Pic S3good point. i forgot about that
i enjoyed seeing it in Pic S1 but found it odd since canon basically ignored it after TOS S1, aside from the proto-versions from Ent S2. the D'deridex ironically looks more like the Klingon BoP

Rather than retyping things, I'll just say that I agree with your list entirely. SNW has given us a nice pre-TOS window. We've got great characters in this show and it helps develop things in TOS.I thought about this after some posts I made in the Gen Trek forum, but one of the things I love about Strange New Worlds is the way that it makes certain aspects of the Original Series so much better than they already were. Here's a list of a few I could think of:
I disagree with you about Kirk but agree about the Gorn. They've taken a simplistic creature in TOS and developed a more complex species with multiple stages to its lifecycle. It turns out the Gorn Captain was, logically, older and therefore at a slower point in its lifecycle.Another thing I really like, that is a lot more controversial:
I am really enjoying what they're doing with the Gorn...so far.

They've also taken a few puzzling aspects of Arena, like how the Gorn communicated with the Enterprise and convinced them to beam down key personnel, and made them fit in.
Why can't they be both?that said, I think SNW does veer a bit far into making Gorn monsters rather than enemy aliens.
Like humans, they could very well have qualities of both.that said, I think SNW does veer a bit far into making Gorn monsters rather than enemy aliens.

The one on the ship in the season finale certianlly wasn't monstrous.they can but SNW has yet to show it
And so the show has to show it? We cannot extrapolate?they can but SNW has yet to show it

So, even though we see intelligent behavior, tactics and use of technology, that is not sufficient data?ok but that's not really my point
that said, I think SNW does veer a bit far into making Gorn monsters rather than enemy aliens.
