Space Therapist;3525257I do admit it feels dated but I do love it. It really is an episode that uses humor well.[/QUOTE said:We reach!
But not "Eden". The line must be drawn, here; this far, no farther.
At least you're not stiff, Herbert!
Ugh.. Space Hippies.
This is probably the only TOS episode that feels dated to me.
Same here.. Then there was that Space Hippies episode of Lost in Space...Ugh.. Space Hippies.
This is probably the only TOS episode that feels dated to me.
What's funny is I watched it in 1971 or 1972, when a few hippies were still floating around, and it felt real dated even back then.
Oh, I like the episode....
Any changes somewhat intentional, but feel free to correct. I sooo want to sing this in a movie someday...just for the hell of it...lol
***
Looking to the good land
Going astray
Don't cry...don't cry...
Oh, I can't have honey
And I can't...have cream...
Gonna live...not die
Gonna live...and not die...
Stand in the middle of it all one day
Look in the shadow around me and say...
I'm here.....I'm here!
In the good land
In the new land....I'm here....

I'm just glad the filthy hippies all got their feet burned off at the end. Take that, you slimy hippes. And get a haircut. And a job.
I think its a lot more fun an episode than, say, Plato's Stepchildren, which I rewatched the other night. Now THAT one really is cringeworthy. Shatner's horse impression really is TOS' lowest moment, IMO!![]()
I'm willing to give TOS a pass on a lot of things. Smile, go with the flow; heck, "Catspaw" and "Spock's Brain" are worth a rewatch every now and then.
But not "Eden". The line must be drawn, here; this far, no farther.
I thought "Move Along Home" was clever and very Trekkish: A race that likes games put our unwitting heroes through an ordeal that turns out to be just a game..I'm willing to give TOS a pass on a lot of things. Smile, go with the flow; heck, "Catspaw" and "Spock's Brain" are worth a rewatch every now and then.
But not "Eden". The line must be drawn, here; this far, no farther.
Yeah. I watched Spocks Brain again recently, and its a whole lotta fun. You know its bad Trek, but its still hilarious and entertaining.
Even Way To Eden makes me laugh. Sue me. When TOS is bad, at least it's still fun. You can't say that about the other Treks. Well, I guess DS9's 'Move Along Home' nearly falls into the 'its so bad, its good' category. Nearly.
I always felt like this was an episode where the season 3 departure of GR and the rest of the writing support staff showed up very clearly. The episode was thisclose to being really good. One or two more rewrites from the write people and it might have become one of the strongest entries of the season, but as it was, close...no cigar.
I always have and still do enjoy it.......now there's bad Trek....but this isn't it...bad Trek is "The Alternate Factor" in a nearly flawless season what happened here.....ok some blame can go to John Barrymore but still. "Spocks Brain" is fun and can be forgiven most of the time...lol
Funny, Conservatives I know rate TOS as a Socialist utopiaian wet-dream; Liberals call it militaristic & Conservative.
As an Independent, I call it just cool SF.![]()
Maybe "That's not been my experience" would have worked better at makin' your point WITHOUT unintentionally calling me a liar. Not realy.
