Watching Picard a second time currently

I know that, but I thought Absolute Candor was actually mentioned again. Maybe I was referring to the Qowat Milat.

Absolute Candor was mentioned a lot in the episode of Discovery with the Qowat Milat of this season, Choose to Live, where Tilly talked about it a lot.

‪‪I don’t believe the Qowat Milat or Absolute Candor have been referred to in LD, but there are so many references, ‪‪I could have missed one.

Do you remember the context where it would’ve been referred to on LD?

I'm also rewatching S1 in preparation for next week. I forgot how often Elnor says "Choose to live". Maybe he should just wear this shirt:

I thought Mariner said it but now I'm not so sure. I've kinda sucked on Trek references this week anyway (The the other thing being confusing Galactic Barriers from Star Trek 5 and the recent Discovery episode) so I am probably wrong.

Just finished a rewatch too, and I really loved it, it definitely benefits from a binge watch. The pacing was a bit off for a weekly show - like taking three episodes for Picard to get into space - whereas if you watch over a week it’s great.

The other thing was probably Jurati being a horrible murderer, which we had to stew over for another three weeks, works much better at pace, because you find out what happened and why much quicker.

And Picard himself - the sheer fucking hubris! His whole arc works really well, and I found I really liked the ending. The golem is Data saving his life, one last time, from beyond the grave. Perfect.

Most of all I loved the new characters, especially Raffi and Rios. I hope we get more of Elnor in the coming series.

I think Rios was my favorite character of the season. I love his holoprograms, but his scene with Raffi revealing his backstory was so emotional, and him speaking spanish at various moments was kind of endearing. I really hope they do more with Elnor in the second season. He was probably my least favorite of the new cast. Also, agreed about Jurati. What happened with the Murder to the end of the season was only like 2 or 3 days so I can understand them going from DS12 to Soji's homeworld as a detour. Maybe one of the first scenes in season 2 will be addressing why Jurati is still on the ship and not in prison. Maybe Starfleet reversing the ban might understand that Jurati killed Maddox kind of against her will.

If you like the Rios Character you'll like the Picard novel Rogue Elements by John Jackson Miller. It does a great job filling in his Back story

Watched Remembrance again and I’ll watch episode 2 today.

Something I missed first time around was the subtle musical cues. There’s the nod to the TNG theme in the Starfleet archive, but even more lovely is the Romulan theme from Balance of Terror showing up briefly when we cut to the Borg Cube.

It’s a neat 45 minutes of Trek and I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of Season 1 before I dive into Season 2. It’s better than I remember I must say, and I didn’t really dislike it the first time around.

Maps and Legends

Watched a second time (haven't seen it since whenever it was first 'broadcast') again I enjoyed it a lot more.

It is a slow show and I don't necessarily mean that as a negative, but watched weekly that felt frustrating in a way it doesn't now I can binge it.

The Synth stuff at the start of the episode is great. I love the detective elements of the episode as well. It's not my review thread or any sort of marathon I want to chart, so I won't say too much other than that I enjoyed it.

Going to watch the third one in a bit I think! I have a (kind of) free day at home because I was sick yesterday (food poisoning, not COVID) and my wife is at work.

Edit Edit -

Watched E03, The End is the Beginning. Like I said about the above, this was a frustrating show to watch weekly because it takes so long to get all it's wheels into motion, something I can appreciate much more when it can be watched a few episodes at a time.

I love the restful, contemplative pace. I love that in three episodes, action scenes have taken up about ten minutes total. I love this show a lot more than I remember!

Probably I won't have chance to watch any more until the weekend is here, but that's alright. I'll be happy if I finish watching once 1-3 episodes of Season 2 have dropped so I can watch them all together.
