Watching Marvel Movies

I just unpacked the new Captain America bluray and now thinking about how to best watch that movie...

i could just put it into the player and run it.

Or I could save it for the climax of an entire Marvel movie run from iron Man to end.

or just make it a double feature with the first Captain America.

or play every movie that features him, so CA, Avengers, Thor 2 (just for the loki/CA cameo).

How do you group your Marvel movies?

At this point it's not possible anymore to watch them all in one go like I used to do during phase 1.

Are there other multi movie franchises where you group movies into special sub categories like Star Wars or Trek?

That said... I think I will do the Captain America Trilogie. With both the solo movies and Avengers in between.

Which works great with Iron Man and Thor, too, on occasion. :)

No problem just popping one in and giving it a whirl. The Marvel films i rewatch the most are Thor TDW and Iron Man 1.

Indulge yourself and do a marathon. I do that for Avengers, X-Men, DC, Star Wars and the 12 Trek films once a month on weekends.

If we're talking about how we watch the series as a marathon, and not just one or two at a time, I try to put them into a roughly chronological order. Iron Man is the first MCU film, so I watch that one first, but Iron Man 2, Thor, and the bulk of The Incredible Hulk all occur roughly around the same exact time. Although TIH actually spans the most time, beginning before IM2 and ending after everything except Cap waking up, IIRC. Most of The First Avenger is set during World War II, obviously, but the framing story is set in the present, and I kind of feel like that's supposed to be the final movie before The Avengers (from an in-universe perspective), so I watch that last. If you want to get really crazy, you can include the One-Shots, too.

1. Iron Man
2. Iron Man 2
(A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer
)
3. Thor
4. The Incredible Hulk
(The Consultant)

5. Captain America: The First Avenger
(Agent Carter)

6. The Avengers
(Item 47)
7. Iron Man 3
(All Hail the King)
8. Thor: The Dark World
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I wish I had the skills and the equipment to do video editing, I'd love to try and cut the movies up and actually try to edit everything into chronological order (maybe in a sort of hour-long miniseries format).

Though I do like the idea of grouping the solo movies together as trilogies (or a tetralogy, in Iron Man's case) with The Avengers as their focal point. I might do that when I get my copy of TWS, too. :techman:
