Watching for the first time from the beginning, in SSN 4..

I started watching "Our Man Bashir" and it was a Holodeck (my bad, HoloSuite) episode, and I've ALWAYS hated them. With TNG it wasn't a big deal to skip them, but since DS9 is more like a serial, will I miss anything important by skipping it? I'll watch it if I must, but I'm one or two past it already and it doesn't seem that I've missed anything.

I don't believe any of them are THAT important, more than for perhaps seeing characters from other perspectives.

Hmm ok thanks. This is the first episode I've skipped, by the way. The rest have all been excellent! What a great show, I can't believe I didn't watch it sooner, considering how big of a TNG and Voyager fan that I am.

It's essentially Bashir does Bond with some technobabble to make it a necessity. It's a fun hour, but you won't miss anything essential to the plot (although it does effectively set Rom up for his character arc).

I wouldn't miss any Bashir + Garak episodes because they are all excellent, and "Our Man Bashir" is a Bashir + Garak episode.

It is up to you if you want to skip the show. For a long time I did not watch "The Emperor's New Clock" because of Kira and Ezri (mirror universe) kissed each other. But, I did lose out from boycotting the watching of the show. Will have to say it is now one of my best shows to watch.

I see no reason why to skip it.

I'm not a fan of holodeck episodes myself but this one is really really good - so I think you should give it a try and if you dislike it you can skip it in the future.

Agreed, Garak was good in the episode.

If you watched "Babel" and "If Wishes Were Horses", then it won't kill you to watch OMB.

It's a romp, and better than most malfunction-holothing-kills-crew scenarios.

Each to his (or her) own but first of all I never missed or 'skipped' an episode. Even if I thought I had just cauase to. Some in hindsight I might have done but i'm glad that I watched them and Our man Bashir is one I would never skip but i'm a big Bond fan and an even bigger Garak fan so like I said each to their own.
