Was the movies's budget ever officially announced?

I heard rumors that it was $150 million, but I never saw an official announcment. Mind you, I don't follow this stuff as closely as some of you.

I'm in the camp that hopes the budget is a LOT smaller. It never took big $$ to make great Star Trek.

Oh goody, the war cry of "Star Trek shouldn't have a big budget! :scream:"

now has its own thread.

:guffaw:

I vote for this film not to have a budget.

I wonder if the estimate of $140 million also includes marketing/advertising/publicity costs? That's usually half the cost of a film, right?

Otherwise, I can't figure out where the money is going. Any ideas?

I'm hoping a lot of it goes towards CGI. Not that I require big explosions or anything, but the effects from the last couple movies have been kind of meh, Insurrection in particular.

Gotta pay ILM the BIG BUCK$.....

Gotta ADVERTIZE the heck out of this one.....

What's left after that, oh yea, gotta pay the cast, crew, Sound Stage rental, Location shooting, yadda yadda yadda...
~ caching ~

I'm surprised it's that high. I wasn't expecting this movie to break $100 million domestically, but maybe I'm underestimating the number of casual moviegoers who would be interested in this project.

I read in entertainment weekly that the official budget was two and a half gazillion dollars.
