Was the actress cast to play T'Pau too young

The fact that, from the advertisers' perspective, you may be a defective product, doesn't mean you aren't part of the product package they're paying for when they buy an opportunity for the eyes and attention of those watching the shows. They're buying a stack of lottery tickets - yours just doesn't have any big win for them. But if you watch the ads, they probably *have* influenced you at some point, even if only to make you aware of a product's existence that you might not have known about otherwise, so you're still a bigger win than viewers who always mute commercials or leave the room or otherwise remove the commercials from their perception entirely. BUT - they have statistics on those things, and consideration of their habits, and your apparent general unresponsiveness to subliminal ads or Freudian tricks, is factored into the price they pay for the commercial time.

The is to make people remember the product in a durable manner, so that they won't forget it when it's time to make a purchase.

Nah. If Vulcans are doing it regularly, then it's totally Vulcan. Like I said, you can't trust Vulcan Propaganda Ministry.

It used to be that Vulcans could not lie, now they lie all the time. Next thing we know Vulcans are the real authors of the rules of acquisitions.

Hilarious, when you realize the Vulcan who supported that claim ( by a non Vulcan) was in the middle of big old deception at the time. "Vulcans do not lie", truely one of the VPM's best disinformation campaigns.
Vulcans are known traders, often dealing in Kevas and Trillium. I'm sure they are familiar with the art of the deal. A Ferengi merchant had better be on his toes when dealing with a Vulcan.
Context is always important. Look beyond the words.

I believe there is an episode of ENT when someone trusted T'Pol because he thought that she was a sybarite... er, Syrrannite.:D

Only a Vulcan could sell to a Ferengi and still make a profit.

There are three notable instances of Spock lying in the TOS movies, probably more that weren't highlighted. Spock always gives a "logical" explanation: "I exaggerated", it was merely "an omission", or even "an error", which is obviously a lie in itself.

Wherever logic goes, sophistry follows close behind. ;)

There are notable differences between the old Spock and the new one.

Some old Spock lies from TOS
Errand of Mercy: Spock pretends to be a Vulcan merchant.
The Menagerie: Spock tells a crewman he has the clearance to be in a restricted area. Spock creates false orders to take the ship to the Talos System. He brings McCoy back to the ship under the pretense of a medical emergency. Tells the crew that Starbase Command has assigned Captain Kirk medical rest leave
Enterprise Incident: Spock supports the lie that Kirk has gone insane. He convinces the Romulan Commander he's willing to betray the Federation

In each case, he had serious and extreme reasons for lying. That definitely makes him much less of a liar than the average human.

Well, everyone has reasons for lying, except compulsive liars. The point is that Vulcans do lie.

Yes Vulcans do lie - all the ones we see in different series lie once in a while, with different degree of lies. But the believe that Vulcans do not lie is so strong. A very successful cultural propaganda!

Vulcan's are honest in the same way most people are. When we're being lied to, it's unusual enough where we either suspect it, or realise it at a later time, because it's relatively unusual. And the reason why most people are honest is because, for the most part, our interactions are very superficial. We're not sharing the secrets of our souls, or anything and there's nothing really to be gained by it. It's the distance that keeps us honest. With Vulcans, that distance is doubly so, but the capability to lie is always there, just like their emotions are always there.

That's affirm. If NuSpock were to shout out, in absolute panic at their disappearance, "THE WOMEN!!!" it's to be expected ...
