Was Joseph Carey hitting on 7 of 9?

My gf and I are watching Voyager. It's a rewatch for me, and for my gf, who's become a sf fan lately (loves B5, nuBSG, DS9, really wants to see TNG, not so much into VOY) it's the first time.

This morning we watched Relativity, and it suddenly struck me as odd, seeing Joe Carey trying to hit on Seven of Nine, since it's estabilshed later in season 7 that he's married. Ofcourse, this wasn't established at the time of Relativity, and for all we know his marriage wasn't going so well. But still, struck me as kinda odd.

Why not, she was Hot, and the wife is some 65,000 lightyears away.

But not before he was married. I don't remember the episode very well, since it's been many years since I last saw it, but I'm prepared to call it "flirtation" - since I understand that pretty much most men do that whether they're happily married or not.

CAREY: Hello.
SEVEN: Sir.
CAREY: Lieutenant Carey. I don't think we've met.
SEVEN: Jameson, Anna, Service number eight six zero seven nine zero.
CAREY: I'm not security. I'm just trying to get to know all the new faces around here. What are you working on?
SEVEN: I am attempting to realign the EPS manifolds.
CAREY: Do you need a hand?
SEVEN: No.
CAREY: Well, maybe I'll see you in the Mess hall later.
SEVEN: Unlikely.
CAREY: Hmm?
SEVEN: I am not a member of Voyager's crew. I'm on assignment here at Utopia Planitia.
CAREY: Too bad. Well, next time I'm in the neighbourhood I'll drop by and say hello.

Remember how powerful Anika's nose is.

Not only might she be almost overcome by Joe's natural musk, but if he's in a healthy sexualy relationship with his wife, or any woman, or many women, Seven should be able to smell it, her or them reeking off him in fumes.

More alarmingly perhaps. Joe Carey wants to see "Anna" in the mess hall, when the Mess Hall wasn't there til Neelix decided he needed to be the cook...

They weren't on Voyager so much as Voyager was in dry dock on Mars.

It's mildly likely that the God of War is going to have a mess hall some where on his person.

Jadzia still flirted with people while she was married to Worf, it didn't mean she intended to sleep with them. Janeway flirted with Chakotay. B'Elanna flirted with the playwrite in "Muse" while married to Tom. Flirting is not an open invitation for sex.

B'Elanna and Tom weren't married yet.

She didn't even mind that tom was having a threesome with the Delanney Sisters.

Janeway did not flirt, she thought that sexuality was a weakness. Sure like anyone she could use sex as a weapon, and what sort of monster uses a weapon on their friends?

Jadzia was just mental.

"I'm married now, but after I die, you're next in line... AND OH WHAT A LINE!"

Joe's hypothetical Denobulan wife is going to look down on him like he's retarded or an amputee if he doesn't have two further wives to bring to bed, who each have two further husbands to bring to bed who each have two further husbands to bring to bed who each have...

You get the point.

On Earth, we besmirch disease by saying that sleeping with one person is like sleeping with the disease of everyone they've ever slept with, however on Denobula sleeping with anyone person IS actually and literally sleeping with EVERYONE that they are sleeping with...

Sex with less than 8 people is probably still considered masturbation on Denobula.

They had dinner by candle light allot.

Jadzia was just mental.
Worf was jealous due to her flirtatious relationships.
It was the topic of an entire episode and Kira often teased her about it.

^ Eh?

As for Carey, he lucked out on two fronts: 1) 'Anna' was a fake identity, and thus Seven is not likely to reveal what happened; 2) he is DEAD, and thus he's escaped the wrath of his wife if she ever does find out.

Is anyone so married so as not be giddidy and mildly flirtatious in the presense of Jeri Ryan?

I'd be impressed at the self control of any married man that wouldn't show signs of attraction to her while she prances around in that body suit.

Worf knew who Jadzia was.

He was a fool and a child to think she was anything else or that he could change her.

Besides her problem wasn't that she was trying to betray the man she loved by opening her legs to anything with a pulse, Jadzia's problem was that most everything seemed like a big guy laugh compared to the last 300 years she had been kicking around.

Worf only thought he was ultra mature.

Dax on the other hand had done maturity and moved on though it, and probably transcended trough a few dozen more states of conciousness that a dude in his 20s like Worf couldn't hope to get his tackle around.

"Sigh"

Janeway likes candles and Janeway likes wine and Janeway likes conversation over good food with an equal.

If Chakotay thinks that she's gagging for it, or pretending to be gaggin for it to tickle his sensibilities and then shut him out, you have to ask what the hell is her endgame in his back to front mind?

Resolutions proved that any relationship which they would ever have finished at friendship.

...

I'm watching Supernatural.

Noah Lessing is chained to an Electric Chair and Skinner from the X-Files and Janson Eckles are taking turns zapping him.

Golly.

His hands are staked to the armwrests of the electric chair with rusted nine inch nails.

10 minutes left in the episode and the guy with the machette looks like he wants to hack Noahs arms off.

I think the definition of torture we found in Equinox is a little candy ass.
