Was Joe Haldeman paid to keep quite about RDM's virtuality?

No, he was not. As the man himself said here:

"Of course you can't copyright an idea. But there's no law against pissing and moaning."
... which, in the context of this thread, is hilarious, really.

Aside from any possible similarities - can't speak to that, not having read "Old Twentieth" (and I probably should, Haldeman is a great writer and a real good guy) - the question posed in the title is misleading. Joe didn't "keep quiet" about this, and the notion that he was "threatening to sue" appears to be a complete fabrication.

Plenty of people did cocksucking. But you'll realize that nowhere in my post did I mention you by name. If you choose to admit to it, well ... acceptance is key to recovery.

You didn't have to mention my name since you said everyone who praises Moore is sucking his cock. That's an incredibly stupid thing to say to people. How dare I like a show and its writer and tell people how I feel.

...he needs to be taken down a peg after accepting the constant cocksucking his BSg fans gave him for four years.

Well, okay, putting aside the obvious envy expressed in that kind of a statement - that someone who is successful because he's admired by people "needs to be taken down a peg" for accepting it - there is a perfectly good construction using standard English that would substitute for your phrase "constant cocksucking:"

after the admiration that BSG fans frequently expressed for four years.

See, that's both less vulgar and more accurate than what you posted.

Pretty damned disappointing performance by an awful lot of people in here, not the least of which was my own for not stepping in sooner. :wtf:

1.) This thread is about "Virtuality" and Ron Moore's involvement in it. There are far too many references to unrelated aspects of other works.

2.) If I had a mind to, I could issue infractions for a number of items - flaming, trolling, and so forth.

3.) Since I have doubts that a civil conversation will be maintained, I'm closing the thread. Should anyone wish to revive the topic, go right ahead and we can try once more.

Like a shipwrecked mariner adrift on an unknown sea
Clinging to the wreckage of the lost ship Fantasy
I'm a castaway, stranded in a desolate land
I can see the footprints in the virtual sand ...
