Was 2010 a good year for you???

I didn't feel like posting anything and being a downer because 2010 has been an awful year, but as one final kick in the nuts from 2010 with four hours left to go, my sister just called and said my grandpa (who had Alzheimer's) just died. On the one hand it's a relief because his suffering is over now, but my sister was his caretaker, so she's questioning if there was anything more she could have done, even though there wasn't and this was expected (though not tonight). Then I'm worried about how it's going to effect my grandma, who also has Alzheimer's.

Our mom just died last June of a heart attack out of the blue, so my sisters have already had enough to deal with this year as it is.

My dad is a homeless alcoholic whom I only receive emails from two or three times a year and never returns mine. He's living God knows where in Florida now after going to the Gulf to work on the oil spill cleanup and he can drink himself to death at any time.

I was hospitalized for three weeks earlier this year and need constant doctor's visits now.

So all in all, fuck you, 2010.

Damn, HoB, may you and your sisters have a great 2011, you so deserve it. Alzheimer's was my Mom's problem and she left at the end of Oct. You and your sisters will be in my daughter's and my thoughts and prayers.

Zen Hugs

That sucks Dude. :(

I hope 2011 is a much better year for you and yours and I'm sorry for your (And your family's) losses.

Last year was bookended by the death of one of our cats (a year ago today) and the death of another animal (which I found out about yesterday) - each in circumstances so horrific they don't bear thinking about. In between there was some good stuff (rain, some other good things) and some crap stuff (health dramas for family members, some other stuff). So I'd have to describe 2010 as...mixed.

Best wishes to everyone for this year. Looks like some of you have been through some awful crap in 2010; particular good wishes for much better stuff for you this time around.

Aw, I'm so sorry. :( It's normal for someone in your Sister's position to second-guess themselves; it's an incredible responsibility to take care of someone like that. I hope she will quickly realize that she could not have saved him-- but that she did give care and comfort to someone who was fragile and helpless, and gave him the best quality of life he could have. That's an incredible thing to do for a fellow Human being, and I have great respect for anyone who does it.

Yes it was! So good that I haven't had time to post here since August as I've been busy with some amazing projects.

Well, amazing to me - boring to most ;)
