Warner Bros. to develop a Legion of Superheroes movie

Start the movie with Darksied on the toilet.

Make it look like he's giving birth to a baby made out of plutonium with 18 limbs.

Then he reaches for Superman's cape to wipe his ass with.

Here's what I expect them to do, not that it will be any good.

- No 31st Century. Take the characters and dump them in 21st Century space.

- It will feature Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy and Lightening Lad (but no code names, just real names)

Actually, I think it would hilarious if the Legion were from the future, inspired by the heroes of the 21st century, and be thinking that their code-names were following the traditions of old, only to travel to the 21st century and find out that everybody thinks their names are really lame.

Have you read Cosmic Boy's Limited Series?

Associated with the Legends event in 1987, the Precrisis Legion is horrified to discover they have landed in Post Crisis 20th century Earth that has a completely different history than they were expecting.

This could be great, if done right-- which is a pretty big if these days. I loved the Legion back in the 60s (and at various points thereafter) because it was in the future, it was in space, and it had superheroes-- all things I loved. Sadly, though, Vendikarr is probably right-- they will probably take away everything that makes it great.

I mean, it's not like Guardians of the Galaxy was obliged to work in Captain Marvel or Adam Warlock, even though that's where Drax and Gamora and Thanos were first introduced.
They didn't even work in the Guardians of the Galaxy. :rommie:

Although I suppose they could rename him. Black Belt Kid? Fists of Fury Kid?
Tae Kwon Dude?

You are all aware that they did make a Legion movie already this year?

JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time.

Lex Luthor is trapped in Ice for a Thousand years.

The Legion wakes him up, he escapes, then goes back in time to destroy Superman.

Dawnstar and Karate Kid Chase Luthor to save the future from getting Paradoxed.

Hilarity ensures.

:)

It's made for a younger audience, but it's still watchable.

^^ Thanks. :D If there was such a job as Superhero-Name-Maker-Upper, I'd be a rich man. :rommie:

The movie doesn't need to reference Superman (or even the 21st century at all) to work. The RJ Brand assassination story can work very well with multiple characters involved as was illustrated in the Secret Origin series back at the beginning of the new 52. It is not so different from the X-Men movies in that the producers will need to choose a winning combination from a potential multitude (legion) of characters. The only guarantee is that Imra, Garth and Rokk will be in it.

If this sees the light of day, the filmmakers would be smart to focus on a core group of characters for the first film and leave their casting and design options open for exploring the other characters in future films.

Right, like the first X-Men movie.

If they Introduced Supergirl in the legion Movie, how much would that help a Supergirl TV show?

Considering that the TV show would want to cover the origin, that would mean that the legion movie is her coming out party, Supergirl would then be a prequel to the movie even if it's only set maybe a year earlier before her adventures in the 31st century...

30th? or 31st?

Their date keeps pace with our date.

But changing from 30th to 31st does see to change the shape in our mouthes while talking about the project.

To me, that would make sense...though i think the TV show would be first, then the movie, but could get a huge shot in the arm with the movie (and get more season 1 dvd sales).

But i know Christopher seems ot be against these crossovers for DC... (and i know he'll explain his nuances --- but doggone it, DC needs to have more than 2 shows connected at the same time!)

In John Byrne's Man of Steel, Lara's reaction to seeing a holographic representation of an Earthman, a bare chested farmer covered in soil... She would have been less disgusted by Jor-El pooping in her cornflakes.

It's odd that Supergirl is not like that. :)

In one story line, Cosmicboy is revelaed to be their arch nemesis, the Timetrapper.

Depending on if these Kryptonians meet Brainiac I or Brainiac V first, will predetemrin their stance on the other. Either brainiac V will get a punch in the nose or they'll try to hug it out with brainiac I.

Meanwhile (i'm sure I mentioned this.) Darkseid.

DC's Thanos.

The Badass CGI rendered master planner int he background.

A thousand years grumpier when he's dealing with the Legion, but you can clearly see Supergirl asking the New God "Why didn't I kill you a thousand years ago?"
