Ain'tItCool is reporting a rumor that Warner Bros. will be cancelling Smallville this year after nine seasons to produce a feature length theatrical film entitled Metropolis, slated for Christmas 2010. The film is expected to continue on from the show with the original cast in tact.
Of course, this is one big fat rumor at this point, however the report did say that WB is expected to make an announcement at this summer's Comic-Con coming in a few weeks.
Also, for what it is worth, Superman Returns co-scribe Mike Dougherty did reveal recently that WB does plan on announcing their next course of action with Superman at this year's Comic-Con, so as outlandish as this seems, there might be some validity to it.
We'll find out in a few weeks, I guess.
