Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

Very surprising that Shazam isn't coming out until 2019. Why get The Rock so far in advance, and then just sit on it?

Also surprising to see Suicide Squad is the next movie. A movie about villains in a universe where there are no established villains. I'm not so sure that will work out well. Unless the movie is designed to end in failure, and force the creation of the Justice League.

I'm also surprised to see Shazam so far down the list. Other than that, that looks like a great line.
I'm surprised to see another Green Lantern, I would have expected them to go with another character who had never had a movie before. I guess they want one for JL, and since everyone else is getting a standalone movie he gets one too. I wonder if they'll stick with Hal Jordan or go with another GL?

Yeah I have to wonder if WB has anything more than just a title and release date for some of these. I'm assuming they wouldn't have announced titles like Cyborg and GL if they didn't already had some kind of solid idea or story in mind for them, but you never know.

Frankly I would have expected to see solid release dates for the MOS and Batman standalones before those two.

Someone please explain how they came up with their actor to play The Flash. Would it not make more sense to go with a 30ish actor, to create more of a difference between the film and the TV show?

Silence, mortal! Thou shall not talk sense when speaking to the Lords of DC Movies! :p

Especially given the older ages of Clark and more so Bruce.

I really don't see the point in including Shazam in a Justice League that already has Superman.

Because, even though they have similar power-sets, they are very different kinds of characters.

I'm guessing we might see Black Adam before the Shazam movie. Heck we might even see Captain Marvel (I refuse to call him Shazam) before the Shazam movie.

Yeah, in the New 52, Shazam is like Superman if you made him a selfish sociopath. So, there's that to look forward to :sigh:

Seriously though, Captain Marvel and Superman were always pretty different. They're probably more different than, say, Batman and Green Arrow. Before the DC reboot, having them on a team together would have worked fine, although I don't think they were ever in a version of the Justice League together. Shazam doesn't work in the Justice League comic at all now, but mostly because he's written really badly and is about as far away from being a compelling character as he can be without making him a violent criminal.

This list of movies is interesting. If the people behind the Marvel movies were doing them, I'd be super excited. As of right now, I have reservations but I'm willing to wait and see what happens. Well, except for Shazam, all signs point to the movie using the horrible, hateful version of the character. Captain Marvel is my favorite DC hero, and I really hate the current "Shazam", so that's the one DC movie I really have no desire to see get made, at least with the current idiots in charge of the movies. But, I'd like to see these movies be good, so I'm hoping WB can surprise people and turn their movies around quality wise.

I thought most current word was Shazam was a New Line project, and not part of Snyder's DCCU (ugh).

Well MOS had hardly anything in common with the New 52 version of Superman (other than the lack of trunks), so it's likely WB will be doing their own thing with most of the other characters as well.

Wonder if the new Green Lantern movie will have some subtitle, adjective or other title change to distance itself from the Reynolds film, like Man Of Steel/Incredible Hulk/Amazing Spider-Man did (and yes I know those are titles used for the comics)

Blackest Night might work out as a subtitle, it doesn't need to reflect the comic storyline with a similar title where the Green Lantern and the other DCU heroes fought zombies (like the next Avengers, which I'm sure won't feature time travel/wolverine and Invisible woman etc. just Ultron)

They could also use Emerald Dawn, especially if they're going to do the origin story, which they'd pretty much have to if they decide to go with John Stewart or Kyle Rainer.
