Spoilers WandaVision discussion thread

First impressions - bit of a bit letdown, to be honest.

I'm interested in where this is heading (What do they have in store for The Scarlett Witch? What has Wanda unleashed? Vision... ), but, something felt off. This didn't "feel" like a finale to the series I've just watched over the past several weeks. It was too much your standard OTT VFX-laden Marvel fist fight. I normally enjoy that. But here, it just felt ... off (as well as rushed).

Expected something a bit more engaging upstairs. Felt like a lot of nuance fell thru the cracks to accommodate epicness.

All that said, I did kind of enjoy it. Perhaps if this had been a season finale rather then the series finale (literally!) I would have found it more satisfying.

Also, Pietro... Come on. There's got to be more to this then meets the eye. Otherwise, I'm not impressed with your clever little subvert expectations troll, dicks.

Rewatching in the next couple of days so opinion subject to change as always.

When his name was revealed as Ralph BOHNER... It seemed like it could be a fake identity... but the way he reacted to Monica when he was 'de-powered' by removing the magical necklace and returned to his normal identity didn't really mesh with the possibility that somehow Quicksilver Fox Universe ended up here, and assumed a different identity. We have seen Quicksilver lose his powers before after "No More Mutants" so you perhaps you could have spun it that it that somehow he crossed over into this realm, but the mutant gene is somehow 'deactivated' upon arrival until Mutants get awakened at some point.

It just feels like a producers 'high-five each other' as they trolled the fans type thing.

I saw someone somewhere else do a write up, apparently Bohner was a character in Growing Pains, which was one of the sitcoms references when Pietro showed up, and that the actor who played Bohner has some connection to the MCU through a family member or something... I don't remember it all. I'm sure if you google it there are already 10,000 write ups/YouTube videos about it.

So yeah, a giant troll and a other sitcom reference in one.

I saw the 'Bohner' joke (as well as the bizarre state of his living conditions) as confirmation that he was Agent Woo's missing informant. Which, as someone else already said, would guarantee he couldn't be Quicksilver since the informant had living family on the MCU world. However, the fact that they just completely ignored the informant bit at the end is probably my biggest complaint about the ending overall and leaves me completely at ends as to whether the informant was never intended to be any sort of mystery at all or whether Jimmy Woo still has something going on with that that just didn't make the cut for the end credits scene.

Wasn't Woo's informant in witness protection though? Bohner trying to make a living as an actor wouldn't make much sense in that case. I don't think the FBI takes too kindly to witness protection subjects trying to get famous (coughHenryHillcough)

Boner was a character on Growing Pains. It's actually a sad story. The actor was Walter Koenig's son. You can see him the DS9 ep "Sanctuary." He is the kid that gets in a fight with Nog and later dies while taking a ship to Bajor's surface and being shot at leading to the ship exploding. He ended up hanging himself years later at a park in Canada.

Was he referenced as being an actor? If so I missed that. All I caught was a) dude apparently thought his own name was hilarious, which suggested to me it's not his actual name (ie, witness protection) and b) he seemed to imply that before Agnes made him 'Pietro' he spent all his time in his man-cave doing nothing, which would track with him staying inside and laying low.

Him being an actor is how Monica found out his real name, she found a pile of his headshots.

Edit:. Also, he didn't know who he really was, he still thought he was Pietro, that's why he still had super speed and thought the name was funny. It wasn't u til Monica tore off his necklace that the spell was broken

Ok, then I guess that pretty definitely kills every last candidate there might have been for Woo's informant so it apparently was never intended to matter at all. I think that's unfortunate, but I can live with it.

The Skrull reference. That's what it was. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out if it was a Kree reference.

I forgot to mention in my other post that I love the Scarlet Witch costume, it's nice to see her get a costume closer to what she wears in the comics.
I was finally able to see the second credits scene, and it looks like we haven't seen the last of the twins after all.
As for the debate about whether or not Wanda was villain, I fall more on the not side. Yeah, what she did was pretty bad, but she was also traumatized, and not in control when she did it, and once she dealt with her trauma and got control of her powers she chose to take it down. I really don't think it was bad enough to push her to full on villain.

One phrase that has my curious

Wanda: (to her kids) "Thank you for choosing me to be your mother"

It suggests there's more to the kids than just what Wanda created. Which would fit with a pretty common trope in fictional cosmology of new/reincarnating souls chosing who their new family is going to be before they're born. And strongly sets up the expectation that when Wanda finds a way to bring the kids back (which is definitely what she's looking for in the post-credits sequence) that they will truly be the same kids and remember everything that happened here.

You know they already had the old version from the Halloween episode. They if they wanted could have just used that again.

Sure, but that was a cheap one off joke costume, there was no way something like that would ever work as her actual, official Scarlet Witch costume.
Which actually brings up something I hadn't thought of. Could that costume have actually been based on her remembering seeing herself as The Scarlet Witch? I know she said it was a fortune teller costume, but I could easily see that being either a lie for to fit in to her sitcom world, or her actually not remember where she really saw it.
I actually forgot all about the whole WitSec thing before I the earlier posts. It is a little disappointing they didn't address that.

Casting Evan Peters as Fake Pietro is literally the only actor on this planet they could've chosen who'd put the audience in the same head-space as Wanda and have us even consider that this random guy could, somehow, be Pietro, back from the dead.

Which we did.

To the point where, predictably, some people are still in denial over it.

Where did White Vision go?

And what became of Agnes? She'd be the only one still under the influence. Anyone in her life would notice something as off about her.

I'm thinking now that White Vision will show up in the next Dr. Strange movie so that Wanda has somebody to pair up with and provide her life in the film with additional drama.

What am I missing? The current MCU, post-Endgame timeline we're all watching is the timeline that doesn't have any Infinity Stones. The Universe survived for 5 years without the Infinity Stones just fine

The stones were "reduced to atoms". They physically still exist, just not in a form anyone can harness. They thus continue to fulfill their role in the stability of the universe. This is also probably why no infinity stone powered individuals have lost their powers.
