Walter Cronkite has died

Jennings was the voice of my generation, so i can see his point. However, Cronkite was indeed a legend along the lines of Murrow.

I find it interesting that you guys love Jennings so much. I do too. I preferred him much more than rather and Brokaw because I thought he called it much more down the middle. I just never thought others thought similarly.

:(

Terribly, terribly sad. Cronkite is one of those guys who I would have Voted to gift with immortality if such a thing were possible. He earned his reputation as "the most trusted man in America" a thousandfold; he was the consummate journalist and reporter. Aspiring TV journalists should be made to study his work and ethic; Cronkite makes the anchors we have on television now look like posturing clowns, which is what they are.

RIP, Mr Cronkite. :(

He was 92, RJ. He had a heckuva run.

^^ He did indeed. No question about that. But the world needs more people like him.

Wow.

I remember when Peter Jennings died... That was "my" news voice. Cronkite was more of a historical figure than an actual voice...

What is with all these celebs dying? :(

As much as I liked and respected Peter Jennings, Cronkite was on a level all his own. Are you suggesting PJ was more of a news voice than WC?

Here is a quote from Jenning's from his Wikipedia page,
that supports your Cronkite being on a level all his own.

"A 26-year-old trying to compete with Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley. I was simply unqualified."

R.I.P. Mr. Cronkite
