Walter Cronkite has died

Damn. I grew up watching him as a kid in the 60s. The Kennedy Assassination, the Space Program, Viet Nam, Race Riots, he was in the middle of it all. Journalism has lost one of its legends.

RIP Mr. Cronkite. :(

Oh no. :(

And so close to the 40th anniversary of his coverage of the Moon landing too.

When he stepped down in 1981 it felt as if the World was ending.

Few people have had such a fulfilled and long life. Well done sir.

Geeze Squig first you almost crash a plane now you've killed Walter Cronkite! Anything for attention, eh?

(seriously, this is sad. :( )

Wow.

I remember when Peter Jennings died... That was "my" news voice. Cronkite was more of a historical figure than an actual voice...

What is with all these celebs dying? :(

someone called me recently and warned me he was not doing well.
so not unexpected but still sad.
while not the primary person we watched for news while i was growing up (that was huntley brinkley) we did turn to cronkite for major events.

and i also admired how he handled his so called retirement.
he did more living in the years after leaving the nightly news then most people do most of their lives.

fair sailing..

You should smile, Mallory. Best way to remember him.

I'm sad to here about Walter Cronkite :( . After he retired and would be on specials, I always thought 'Retirement really agrees with him' because he looked so good.

He was one of the best.

As much as I liked and respected Peter Jennings, Cronkite was on a level all his own. Are you suggesting PJ was more of a news voice than WC?
