Walked out on a date who laughed at opening 10 mins of Trek..

Hang on - before we burn her at the stake -we don't know she was actually laughing at George's death. srombomb hasn't posted saying that she poked him in the ribs and said "The George bloke driving the ship to his death, funniest thing I've seen in years"

Anyway, the line where Winona says "Let's name him after your father." And George says (I paraphrase) "Tiberius? God no!" is meant to be funny.

one dosnt even have to be immature though that description fits some people.
but some people when seeing some drama that in some way hits them they react by laughing..

its laugh and cry and if they are with someone who they dont yet feel comfortable with..

yeah, it's not necessarily immaturity. it might be a deeper psychological issue. some people cannot handle sadness etc. their reaction is often laughter or the door.

Maybe she was giggling because she was just so happy to be with you, nervous reaction.

I would have asked her why she is laughing during a death scene, because that's messed up.

Let's say she dragged you to some shitty chic flick, something like Bride Wars or Sex in the City or some other crappy thing like that. Say she was really into it, say you started giggling at the utter stupidity of it all. Wouldn't you want her to cut you some slack? It's just a movie, not everyone is going to be as into it as we geeks are.

I don't think I would find someone's reaction to a movie, no matter how odd it might seem, to be grounds to not only end a date but to do so simply by walking out on her, which to me is inexcusable. Feminism or no, there's still a certain amount of being a gentleman that's called for.

I'm shaking my head in desbelief like many in here are, but unlike most, it's not about the girl. People laugh at bad places, often in movies, but to walk out on her? Dick move, man, dick move. :(

I don't know, I call shenanigans on this story.
You called it. If someone walks out on a date over giggling at the movies, said someone will be a very lonely man for years to come. I mean, that is approaching Jerry Seinfeld lunacy: "I broke up with her because she ate her peas one at a time."

Wow. I actually teared up in the first 10 min. And I'm infamous for "never crying" at movies. Guys get mad at me because they cry at stuff I don't! :rommie:

Yes thats right!

I was on a first date w a new girl, and she openly was giggling during the opening 10 minutes of Star Trek. I was in disbelief, and it was a major major turnoff she had zero grasp of WHY the film was so enthralling the first 10 minutes.

So I said I had to go to the bathroom right around the moment Spock was being lectured by his father, and never came back!!

Girls who don't get Trek or could even remotely dig the new movie SCARE ME.

Nuff said.

WELL DONE MY MAN!!!

Besides that "stereotype" that Trek fans can't get girls is a fat lie. I sincerely don't try much and they just flood in! And NO I'm not being sarcastic.

might want to screen your dates a little bit beforehand eh? I only go for chicks with some geeky interests.
