If the crew were all herded into a cargo bay when they were asleep, how was Seven there as well in that dreaming state? As far as I recall she doesn't sleep (this is only a few months after she came aboard Voyager) just regenerates. She's not dreaming as she isn't asleep. I guess they could say she was in Unimatrix Zero but they didn't even write that script until 2 years later.

She still has rem cycles as she regenerates. (or the actress probably should stop doing REM close ups.) Anyway that's my observation. No idea if that's an accurate assessment. Meaning it's only a certain wave stimulated. Did they specify what they do other than use the words 'sleep'? Did they science explain? Like theta waves, beta, alpha Melatonin hormones?

The doctor does talk about REM sleep. As a matter of fact he shows Chakotay identical brain scans of several crew members all having the same dream. Note that Seven's is not among them.

I don't recall those other terms you mentioned being stated.

You know what else was odd: Janeway called Harry; Kim. Not Harry or Mr. Kim, but Kim. I never heard her do that before or since.

Ooh, you piqued my interest and now I will keep an ear out for that. But I don't believe she has.

I don't think it was ever said she can't sleep. My assumption is that she sleeps while regenerating. Sleep charges the human side, regeneration charges the borg side

I brought up Seven experiencing REM sleep (before there was any indication that she has the need and/or capacity for sleep) in a thread last year as I was watching the series for the first time. Not sure if it was this ep or not... there are a few eps when we see her experience REM as she is regenerating. She clearly sleep during season 7 in the ep with Holo-Chak, but prior to that I can't recall any mention of it. It's something (like those 'small changes' @Sophie74656 mentioned) that wold have been nice to explore or at least touch upon.
