Voyager self-destruct

On numerous early episodes, I've noticed that Janeway was the only person needed to blow up the ship? Did this change in later seasons? I believe that in ST III and DS9, the three top ranking officers were required to blow up a Fed ship. In TNG, that requirement got dropped to two. Cobra

It was three in first contact too, Picard needed worf and crusher to confirm it.

Maybe voyagers was reprogrammed after getting stranded after all half the crew are terrorists!

Or maybe it's x number of officers needed to officiate the "killing" of y number of crew.

Picard's Enterprise did after all have 7 times the crew compliment Janeway did.

I'd hardly think that you would need 3 ranking officers to order a shuttle to self destruct however it was a miracle if Voyagers XO could order a shuttle to remain airborn and not smash into planets and stuff?

Remember in 11001001 when Picard and Riker actually had keys around their necks they had to plug into a special console to blow the old girl up?

Wasn't that because Riker was missing? If the XO is unable to blow things, using two other officers makes sense.

Wasn't that because Riker was missing? If the XO is unable to blow things, using two other officers makes sense.

It would, especially seeing as how Worf, by this time wasn't an Enterprise crew
Member but Ds9/ defiant.

Then again though, Geordi was on the surface and Data was being poked and prodded with Borg stuff

In STIITWOK and ST:First Contact they made it very long and drawn out and dramatic esepecially STII
Was there ever a VOY episode where it was something longer and not just Janeway's command code in 5 seconds with one sentence?

The Chief Engineers of each of the ships could certainly do the deed all by themselves.

Actually, Data or LaForge would make more sense than Worf, but still.

LaForge was planetside, and Data was captive. Worf was the next highest ranking command member behind Picard. Why Crusher was part of the authorization sequence is unclear (besides the dramatic necessity of giving the third "key" to a cast member).

As for Voyager, I imagine that Janeway just didn't trust the other members of her crew, or didn't want to load them with the responsibility of carrying out the destruction of the ship.

You think a power control freak like Janeway is going to trust anyone else with the ship's self-destruct codes?

Everyone has their own command codes, the ship, who is keeping track of who is now dead and who has already left in an escape pod, determines if you're high enough up in the hierarchy to be allowed to blow up the ship.

I always loved how often the self-destruct could be knocked off line. You'd think these people would design a failsafe system that might work when the ship is damaged. Forbid you might have to use such a system when the ship is under duress.

And the alternate Janeway in the universe Harry and Naomi came from. She blew up her ship, rather than let the Vidiians take everybody for spare parts.
