Voyager season 6

I'm up season 7... Shattered, which I haven't seen yet, but looking forward to it. I saw the Scorpion two-parter when it originally aired back in the 90s, and when I rewatched that episode earlier this year (and subsequently a few other random season 4-5 eps) it made me want to watch the entire series. It'll have taken me about 7 months by the time I finish.

Oh cool. Shattered is probably my favourite season 7 episode. You're in for a treat.

No sweat, mang... (let me know if you need clarification on that). ;)
Yes, miss ... if you were so kind as to explain ... your student is eager to learn ...
See @Prax this is exactly the part of the language that textbooks don't teach you. Unfortunately since I'd be more than happy to pick up colloquial/slang expressions ... but my only hope is you guys to ask for clarifications ...

Btw, I love VOY so much, I find it impossible to rank seasons. Most eps are gems anyway ... Having said that my ranking of the seasons would potentially be:

1) Season 4
2) Season 2
3) Season 7
4) Season 3
5) Season 1
6) Season 5
7) Season 6

I'll help Prax out since he's probably busy... ;)

Word is short for "word up". As in: "Word up, homie. We be getting down on the get down, tonight."
It just means "listen up" or sometimes "I understand and agree"... or similar.

Booyah! (a positive exclamation to show joy or approval). :techman:

:mad:Yeah, busy sleeping!

You jumped the gun, I had a much funnier reply in store for him, full of colloquialisms.:scream:

Joking..joking..I'm not actually mad..

"Word" is similar to "Hooah" (For those who have been in the army)

Hooah is an amazing word! It's almost like Tim Allen's language of grunts in "Home Improvement."

Hooah
"Hoo - ah" or "Huuuuuu"(rise in pitch)

Meaning:
1. Yes
2. Good
3. "Good Morning."
3. Good copy, roger, message received, understood.
4. Glad to meet you, welcome.
5. "I do not know, but will check on it, I haven't the vaguest idea."
6. "Sorry, I wasn't listening."
7. "That is enough of your crap--sit down."
8. "Word!"
9. "Thank you."
10. "Please go to the next slide"(death by Powerpoint)
10a. "I'm awake! I swear I wasn't sleeping"
11. "You have taken the correct action." "Good job, Soldier!"
12. "I don't know what that means, but am too embarrassed to ask for clarification."
13. "That is awesome, I want one too!"
14. "Time for PT(Physical Training)!" "We all (actually hate)love PT!
15. "AMEN"

Hooah?
Meaning:
1. "You trackin'?" "Do you understand?"
10b. "May I proceed to the next slide?"
15a. "Can I get an Amen?!"

I took some of this from urban dictionary, then shamelessly edited it to better fit reality. And these are all direct translations.

"Word up, homie. We be getting down on the get down, tonight."
Joking..joking..I'm not actually mad..
Oh I think you are both mad! From CM's above sentence the only thing I understand is that it's in English ... :-)
And what's a homie? A homosexual?

Btw, saying "word up" instead of just "word" doesn't really make me understand what it means. Try again CM ... this time using other "words"! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I don't get the "word" thing either.

And LOL no, homies is short for homeboy. A friend from back home. A pal. At least that was the term in my day. Has it changed? Anyone?

Funny, when I read "pal," I immediately thought of Joe Pesci, grinning with dark intentions, saying "hiiiya paaaallll"

The true word of longevity is "buddy." I think it has a good long life left. I always hear people say(including myself) "a buddy of mine said..."

So ... a pal of mine and a buddy of mine - are they the same?
Can I also say a homie of mine? Only if the person comes from the same area as I do?
