To The Journey

I am very confused. I cannot work out if my "To the Journey" backer survey used my old or new email address. All attempts to reset my password go to my old email, which I no longer have access to. I seem to have emails on file, from both Backerkit and Indiegogo, but some of these were auto-sent to my gmail account when I had to depart my old Internet provider. This is not my first time sponsoring a documentary, but it must hold a record for the longest wait?

I am even unsure as to who is responsible for the Voyager documentary. Last month, an attempt to get answers from Backerkit seems to have failed. I saw where there were live events that were held in three cities(?), but there was nothing for the Australians. Or were we supposed to have online access to an online event instead, and I missed it?

The only things I have from my sponsorship are some fridge magnets. Every day, they sit on my fridge door and remind me that I still have no Voyager documentary to watch. I only recently found the ten-minutes of "bonus interviews" here in this thread. (Thank you, @Tosk !)

It seems that there are ongoing difficulties in the release of a DVD of the documentary. The last online message to backers seems to be 2022? I still can't confirm that my survey was ever successfully received.

Will I ever get to see this DVD?

David Zappone (director) is currently promising that the discs will begin shipping in June.

Similar to you, this has been dragging on for so long that I no longer know what mailing address I used for the disc, and Indiegogo won't tell me because the pledge manager for the project is now closed.

Originally listed shipping date for the discs? October 2022

Did you pay for access to the premier event?

Backers were given online access to the film last year after the backlash to it taking so long, so it sounds like you missed that message.

I think as long as you haven't moved house, your address *should* still be on Backerkit and they will post it out to you. But I can't say for certain.

The producers are 455 Films. Backerkit is simply the fulfillment platform.

After much panicked to-ing and fro-ing, Michele of 455 Films sent several emails to me, fixed up my problematic (defunct) email address, re-sent the final details and links to the online version of the documentary and downloadable PDFs. I even found my name in the end credits.

That was a thoroughly entertaining time this morning, after such a long, traumatic wait. I even liked Garrett Wang's trip on the Vomit Comet! Glad it was him and not me.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. My old email address had died just before the important stuff I had paid for, so many years ago, had started happening! It has all eventually worked out! Whew!

I'm waiting for a documentary I crowdfunded in 2015 and another I crowdfunded in 2019. I expect I'll see the first one eventually because it's about a band, and I've known the guys in the band for decades, one since we were in high school in the late 1970s. The filmmaker is a friend of theirs and has already completed and released a documentary before starting this one. My old high school friend was in that one too.

The other documentary... I think it's a British production, and it's about a British band, and I suspect everyone waiting for it is giving up on it.

I had forgotten about this... so it's coming out soon? The only place right now to buy it is from the backerkit page?

I assume the Backerkit page is closed, unless you were a backer. There was a link to watch the documentary (what I was fighting to gain access to!) and a new invitation to add an extra, ie. the "bonus features" disc. Yes, supposedly due soon.

It looks like I can still order it, but I haven't tried checking out. I'm kind of curious about it, but the reviews have made it seem not worth it... but I assume no one has seen the extra interviews at all yet?

While not as extensive as the DS9 documentary, where we saw the creation of a hypothetical Season Eight in the Writers Room, but there is certainly a lot to like about "To the Journey". Each actor/character is celebrated and it was so good to see Ms Mulgrew and Ms Ryan bury the hatchet.

Some portions of the extra interviews have been showcased. I assume much is simply unused material, but still interesting.

Yeah, no idea what the actual ship date is but it looks like I'm grabbing the disc. Might as well I guess. lol
