^ Which I guess is understandable, to an extent, if trying to draw in a new younger audience. The legacy audience has already paid their dues, purchased the merch, and product they want. In CBS' eyes they are cashed out. Doesn't really explain what they did to PRO though.

That attitude also speaks toward the prevailing winds in the Wall Street influence of the film industry, which is geared only toward short-term profits. Anything long-term or lasting isn't important for the current studio bosses that are more concerned with pumping and dumping in the service of the shareholders.

I'd rather not spend $45 to pre-order the Blu-Ray, even if it has an exclusive cover. A release date would be nice.

After having seen the documentary, I don't know that I'd throw $45 at the disc either unless it includes a crap-ton of good special features.

Honestly, I'm kind of left wishing I hadn't backed this. I was really hoping we'd get something on the level of WWLB, and I just don't feel that we did.

Was there a similar thread for WWLB? I tried searching because I was curious to see how the reviews compared, but couldn't find it.

Honestly, I'm kind of left wishing I hadn't backed this.

I'm not to that point because I'm glad VOY got some more time in the limelight but do wish we had gotten, I dunno, more? There really wasn't anything new that hadn't been discussed before. Garret's Zero-G flight padding and Covid filming restrictions didn't help much either. After reading some comments from the producers it seemed like Paramount / CBS gave them significantly less support than WWLB in terms of episode enhancements too which was out of their control.

I appreciate what we got...but I think to me it feels more like a $20 disc purchase than a $45 one, and that's before you consider how much we paid as backers. Not that the mug that I've not used since I received it isn't nice and all...

I didn't pay that much to get the discs but it's for sure not a $45 purchase. I think I used the mug twice and felt like the handle was going to come off so I've left it in the cupboard since.

I watched the thing, and I don't know if I ever want to watch it again. Hopefully there are deleted scenes I can watch, but my feelings when I donated are so drastically different than my feelings now, especially after watching the documentary. Agreed on all this. I may watch it one more time when/if I get the disc, but that’s about all.

Compare with the DS9 doc, which I’ve rewatched multiple times on the disc and just rewatched when I saw it was on YouTube, and it made me feel emotional & also motivated to work on a few screenplays. That’s the mark of something great.

That is two and half times what I paid for WYLB, but I am not sure about the alternatives. I don't see anything about a distribution deal, Shout Factory or anyone else. I can see any information on this. It could be that Zappone has to organize manufacturing on his own

I didn't pay to back WYLB but bought a ticket to see it in the theater and bought a special edition Blu-Ray. I'm still willing to do that for the Voyager one if they'd give me some release dates.

Just want to preface this: I admire that the TTJ crew didn't give up and kept pushing to get the doc done but when compared to WWLB, it does regrettably not reach the same level.

I have to wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just wait out the COVID and strike restrictions that made it clearly very difficult to interview and done the interviews in 2024 or this year.

Obviously they did get some newer interviews done, but not having the cast/writers all together ala WWLB, really does hurt the flow, bouncing between interviews trying to keep it all coherent.

I'll also agree with the overall sentiment that the Zero-G stuff didn't add anything, and if anything detracted from the doc. Nothing against Wang but those segments plopped throughout the doc just aren't needed.

Based on the few comments here 'n there from the TTJ crew, I can't shake the nagging feeling that CBS not only doesn't care about classic Trek, but that they were very difficult to negotiate with this time around.

Compared to WWLB, which the only downside that comes to mind is the lack of Avery (who I've read later watched it and wished he hadn't declined, though I'm not sure how factual that is?), TTJ has numerous issues which once the credits rolled made me feel like "well that was.... ok".

Also, they could have done something about the Introduction to Voyager hosted by Bob Picardo that aired the Saturday before Caretaker.

I remember it being an hour long special promoting the series. Maybe I'm getting the details wrong.

It's obviously not the actual Voyager. And it's too modern an image to be a design shot from back in the day.

As for the documentary, I have not seen it yet.
Is it coming up with something new or is it the same old stories told by those who was in charge of the show, spiced up with their latest tales from the Voyager Celebration book?

Based on what Joe Kornbrodt (producer on WWLB and TTJ) said, CBS doesn't seem to care about classic Trek these days (well aside from when it's convenient to parade it around).

Which is a shame because TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voy was what really made Star Trek the phenomenon which it was.

If TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY will be shoved in the background and all focus will be on the NuTrek movies and later series, then I'm not interested.

The whole current direction by CBS reminds me of a certain rock band which once decided to change the winning formula they had for many years and adapted their styile to more commercial pop in order to attract younger fans, or to make it short-they sold out and made their hard core fans disappointed.

That attempt became a total failure and the new album was heavily criticized for being a sellout.

They realised their meistake and went back to the classic formula. But it was too late. The damage was done, many of the true fans had abandoned them and they never became as popular as they once was.

And look at Star Wars!
Is there really anyone who care about the recent movies or series?

As it is, I really hope that TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY will be available on DVD because i might need replacement discs if my currrent DVD discs stops to function.

As some of you know, I have had a lot of problems with that in the past.
