Lots of good entries that are going to make for some very difficult voting! Good luck, everyone! I'm curious to see how each invention will do :)

I went with Timewalker, macloudt, Scotpens, and bbjeg-- I think that covers the major areas that built civilization. :bolian:

Interesting what you can extrapolate from this poll :) Looks like most of us are avid readers, only moderatedly addicted to chocolate, quite peace-loving and prefering the computer over the pone.

Considering how well my stone wheel is doing, rock'n'roll is still pretty popular.

Yeah, it's really interesting seeing the results. I kind of hoped to see something like this when I thought of the idea.

Anyhow, I must hand things over to Timewalker. The Printing Press came in the lead with 12 votes, followed by The Wheel with 9 votes, and the Computer and Telegraph both at 7 votes.

Congrats, Timewalker! Looking forward to seeing what you invent next ;)

Thank you, everyone! It's the first time I ever won an avatar contest. :)

I chose the printing press because even though the other inventions were all very important in their own ways (yes, including chocolate ;)), it was the printing press that enabled us to share our ideas and inventions with others faster and easier. Not one of us would be here on this forum today if not for the printing press enabling the faster and more widespread benefits of literacy. I remember an A&E program back in 2000 that had a countdown of the 100 most influential people of the past millennium. Gutenberg took first place. :)

Now I have to ask: What are the rules of these contests? I made a list of the themes already used, so I have a couple of ideas that haven't been done before, but what is the usual time frame?

^^ It's flexible. When I do it, I try to give it long enough so that people who may only be able to participate on the weekend have enough time to do it.

And congratulations. :bolian:

And thanks for the votes, everyone. :)
