What more does it need?
With bloodied and ripped shirt Kirk fighting space terrorists? It really would be Die Hard in Space.A good baryon sweep should take care of it.![]()
That doesn't work with the later productions though.
Even though I really dislike the Kelvinverse version of Constitution class, one thing I really think they got right was the look of the ship's surface. It looks mostly smooth and clear, yet still really good even on big screen. Way better than the hull surface on DIS ships, they're covered in really harsh unnecessary panelling. Europa in particular looked really rough.I know it may not be CGI-friendly, but I find less detail makes it seem more advanced. Like something a technologically advance civilization would be able to pull off.
This is the colour of the Enterprise to me:
Honestly I blame Star Wars for that. It raised the expectation for sci-fi/sci-fan audiences to require over-greebled ship designs and general tech, lest the young appear "boring". Threw the notion of simplicity as a hallmark of advanced technology right out the window forevermore. That doesn't work with the later productions though.
The Refit was probably made more detailed because of the higher budget and the fact it was going to be on the big screen.
Hah! I lost fucking HOURS playing that thing on my gameboy. I'm still mad that I never got to finish it (never could get past that damn space amoeba). The proportions and engineering hull of the reimagined Defiant really remind me of the cover image on the ancient Star Trek: 25th Anniversary game
..but whose to say this is the MU we know or that the prime universe in the show is just the prime universe for the purposes of the show?
I blame Legos.Honestly I blame Star Wars for that. It raised the expectation for sci-fi/sci-fan audiences to require over-greebled ship designs and general tech, lest the young appear "boring". Threw the notion of simplicity as a hallmark of advanced technology right out the window forevermore.
Legos are too blocky and dated. You can't put this on TV, Modern Audiences won't accept it! *sarcasm.*I blame Legos.
Except that it looks like a toy.The 11 footer looks so amazing even 50+ years later.

I'm amazed you can't let people have their own opinions.I am simply amazed at people who can not understand the TOS Ship can not fit in the current line up as is.
