I know a lot of people are hearing things about Ron Moore's new show/not a show airing later this month on FOX. We've started a fansite over at http://goodshipphaeton.wordpress.com. So far, FOX's outreach has been great. We've just a posted an interview we did with Michael Taylor where he talks about the making of the show. If anyone is interested, head on over.

oh i thought this was about that movie from the mid 90s with russell crowe and denzel washington, before they were russell crowe and denzel washington

Aintitcool.com has a twelve minute clip from the show. Interesting. The captain reminds me of Jami Bamber from nuBSG, though based on the scenes in the clip, if I were the rest of the crew he would be in a straight jacket by now.

The science is a bit off. They mention being at 1/15 of C at one point, then later it is said that the go/nogo point for the mission is at the five year mark when they will make a gravity assist around Neptune.:wtf:
Now, even without doing the math, knowing the nearest star is 5 lightyears away, and even with the assist they are not going to reach more than 1/2C, there is no way they can reach the destination within 5 years of go/nogo.

Barring the bad math, everything else looks fairly good if not a little dry. They better ramp up the action within the first few episodes or I predict cancellation before the season ends.

I don't think there's a 'season' yet - it was all but DOA-pre-debut but now maybe Fox is giving it one last chance to garner kickass ratings when it premieres. Given the zero level of publicity and debut during a dead time of year, it ain't much of a fair test...

FOX is burning off the pilot. Moore is hoping for a pickup, but Taylor is more realistic.

There might be some chance of a second TV movie if this one does surprisingly well.

Pretty much. The show is DOA but for some reason Fox thought it worked as a tv-movie so they're going to air it over the summer, when no one's watching.
