Viper's miscellaneous Star Trek projects

I've had a busy past few days, but today I managed to make some progress. I've been putting off the pylons so far, but I think I figured out how to do the necessary panels. Also, I realized that some of the panels there are raised which makes things much easier. Here's where I am at:

And then here are a couple of space renders just for fun :)

Here's something a bit different. Recently I updated the materials for the bussards on my TOS Connie and also did some changes to the saucer textures. Here's a quick render:

OMG, Sir!!!!
If you ever get the itch to tackle TOS, it'll be something to behold. As for the orbital dome on the propulsion units (Space Warp nacelles) some artists has somehow replicated it which looked like the series. There's like sparkling lights within the fan element of the machine.

You'll like this then :) I've been working on a little animation of it the past few days now that I finally have the means to render animations in a timely manner. Hope you all enjoy :)

This project has been stalled for years, but I came across some new reference for the workbee which made me want to take a look at my file for it. So I fixed a few things and started working on it again. Will try to get it done soon.

It gave me goosebumps. Absolutely outstanding, Viper. I watched it on my new OLED tv and it was fun to see your work that way. Thank you.

There's 1 nitpick, TOS Enterprise didn't have the Aztec designs on the hull. That originated from TMP. Still a nice image BTW.

That was a stylistic choice on my part. I wanted to try and make the Enterprise look more like a starship instead of an old miniature.

Anyway, I was away for a few days and then a lot happened this week but I found time to basically finish the modelling on the Excelsior. I'm sure that I missed some details but I'll probably catch those as I texture. The only thing I won't do right now is that cargo bay. Here's a few closeups of the areas I finished and then some overall renders.

Viper look great. I'm enjoying this thread. I can't help wondering what this design would look like if the designers chose to use the Tmp Enterprise torpedo tube pattern rather than the circular design to show some relationship in technology. Keep up the great work :techman::techman::techman::techman::techman:

You know, I thought the same. I plan on doing a variant of the ship more to my taste later, I might give that a try. But I made sure here to have the circular tubes be large enough to handle the Torpedo Mark VI dimensions.

Really nice work, love the details you've added. :mallory::techman:

Uh, which details? Everything you see is on the actual miniature :D

I would like to see a variant of yours as well but I do have one request; could you reinvent the Enterprise without the Aztec additions and what could you invent to replace it so it would look less like a model?

Which Enterprise are you talking about here? TOS?

I was reading the conversation about TMP, but OMG if you could do something with my Enterprise -TOS- that would be DOUBLE AWESOME!!!

I'm not sure why the Enterprise would need to have the aztecing removed so it doesn't look like a model. I think it's quite possible to do it with them included. I'm actually doing a new version of the Enterprise. Though not sure when I'll pick it up again.

I was thinking if you were brainstorming a new Enterprise than maybe you might think of something besides aztecing that has been around since 1978? Something new. Appearing less man constructed and probably more alien which wouldn't consist with normal construction. When I first saw TOS Enterprise it didn't appear it was constructed by humans but rather robotics or from an alien source. UFO like to me.

What about having smooth painted hulls like a new automobile or a Stealth Fighter?

Something that looks nearly seemless other than the grooves for the shield grid?
