The villain is actually ... Janice Lester.
She swapped bodies with some big strapping guy. And now she'll take revenge upon Kirk for kicking her to the curb, and Starfleet for not putting her in command of a heavily armed starship.

His name is Syrbock Holmes.Or maybe Cumberbatch is the fully-human half brother of Spock, the son of Amanda and her first husband. He blames Spock for not being able to save their mother from her fall. And he will. Haf. His. Vengeance!

Also, the villain should be a contemporary of Kirk's, not a mentor figure like Garth. Cumbers is too young for that role.
