I was at the Detroit Science Center in the Star Trek Exhibit and I got some cool footage. I thought I'd share it with all of you.

Pretty niffty, eh?

That's just drooltastic!

More like vomit inducing. Let me guess...you were trying to create your own version of the wormhole sequence from TMP, right?

Now go back and hold the camera steady so we can actually see something.

Well, that was a comment on the bridge replica and not the way STIntergalactic filmed it. But then again, I suppose filming wasn't allowed, so that might explain the shaky cam. Either way, I don't see the necessity to be rude because of it.

Really cool! Thanks so much for sharing!! Is this a traveling exhibit? If it is and it hasnt come to Nu Yawk yet i need to see it!

Nothing showing on the schedule closer than Philadelphia, so far (it just closed there on the 20th.) According to both the tickets page and this TrekMovie article, there's supposed to be a way to sign up to be notified when the exhibit comes to your area or to suggest a museum where the exhibit could be staged, but the links given don't seem to be working.

I always dreamed of having a house with enough space to build a man cave that looks like that. If it feels like cardboard, fine.

M, i bow before thee! You're always there to help this old broad get the answers!! You rock!

Edit: just submitted my info to be informed....the pics on the website are beautiful!

Reminds me of years and years ago, the Smithsonian(sp? not sure if I got that right) Anyway, they had a traveling portion of their museum come here to Oregon. Got to see the original shooting model of the old girl, and a few other assorted pieces of trek paraphernalia.

I went to the DSC the first weekend it opened. Then, my step-son and I went on the last. It was nice to see that other than some expected wear and tear, they kept the display up in pretty good condition.

Now if only I could build the TNG set in my house it would really be like living there.

Thanks for providing this... It would have been so cool if you did a slow pan of the bridge from the aft turbolift and then from the viewscreen, to get a better sense of the surroundings. Were the two of you the only ones on it at the time?

It must be quite an experience to see a full scale mock-up... to give you a sense of the dimensions and spacing.

Here's an uncommon shot of the bridge, from the series:

What I like about it is that you get a real sense of proportion here. Look how cramped that walkway is around the command center! And poor Uhura must have people constantly brushing up against her chair as they walk by.

Looks like a great exhibit. Were you having some sort of seizure while filming? j/k

Thanks for sharing this, STIntergalactic!:techman: Just half an hour ago I caught this news report on TV about the Star Trek exhibition in Detroit. It must have been an exhilarating experience to be there.

Hmmm... how long has the exhibit been up there? STIntergalactic reported it in September '09. I don't recall if it ever made it to NYC... I hope it does someday.
