Victory of the Daleks - 65 minutes (slight spoilers)

Either that or he's trying to prematurely age Matt Smith to the age of Doctor he wanted, by means of overwork!

Moff- I swear by the end of his second year he'll look like Daniel Craig.

:p

So 13 episodes is overwork now?

Bill Hartnell's first season 44 episodes.
Pat Troughton's first season 35 episodes.
Jon Pertwee's first season 25 episodes.

Somewhere up in heaven they're looking down and thinking Matt Smith is a pussy.

;)

I'm not sure about Pertwee but if you read on the BBC guide about various stories you'll see mention of how a character was barely seen in an episode because the actor was on holiday that the time it was filmed.

and to a point a raised earlier while the extra lengh adds to the production cost it's actually cheaper than a complete new story. You don't need a second lot of pre-production, no new set construction, no extra actors to pay for etc etc

This is good news. I've high hopes for this episode. Far more excited for this than any of the others.
OMG! :wtf:

Bones excited about a nuWho ep??!!!

What's gone wrong??!!!

:p
You've got me all wrong. I was even enthusiastic about The End of Time before it aired. I'm an optimist deep down. It's only after seeing things that I get all jaded and scathing.

...

Wait, what? What the hell?

Complaining about the run time of a future episode, are you kidding me wamdue?

I've read some petty bullshit on this forum, but "this episode I haven't seen is far too long" takes the cake.

im not complaining, just wondering how many episodes this series are going to not be 45 minutes long, as ive come to expect Doctor Who to be, expect for finales & Christmas specails.

Why does it matter? Busy saturday night schedule?

You know who I'd love to see fight a Dalek? Teddy Roosevelt.

He would refuse to shoot.

Ditto. Parts 3 and 4 of "The Celestial Toymaker". Hartnell went on vacation so they wrote him invisible! The few lines he had were pre-recorded, otherwise it was just Michael Gough talking crap at thin air while game pieces moved on their own thanks to wires or choppy stop-motion animation. Part 4 is on the "Lost In Time" DVDs.

And Frazer Hines went on vacation so they changed his face during a botched puzzle game on "The Mind Robber" and a different actor played him. Troughton put the wrong pieces on the face. Clever.

And Nyssa getting sick and staying in bed for "Kinda", only appearing at the beginning and end.

I don't know man:

Moff does know the show is meant to be 45 minutes right?

not to mention the fact that 65 minutes is such a random time, could they really not have cut it down to a simple 60, I know this is a Dalek episode but its not the finale

That sure reads like having a moan to me! ;)
dude welcome to the internet, where people moan about the tiniest thing, even when we dont really see it as a problem.

I was just picturing someone at the BBC being given the tapes for the first 3 episodes, and seeing 2 of them being over 1 hour in length, saying to Moffatt "you know we only paid you for a 45 minute show right?"

That is rather brilliant.

You know what? I think the BBC may have known and agreed to it being that long in the first place. Being as they make the show and all.

I think it's pretty retarded to assume that Moff turned in a 65-minute script and expected the BBC to roll with it, rather than the more logical supposition that the BBC knew about, and agreed to, the additional running time.

I think it's even more retarded to moan about it on the internet. Especially when the thing you're moaning about is MORE WHO ON TELEVISION.

TPTB may have even asked for the extra running time. If the starting times are all over the place due to changing sports, plus Who as a flagship show, it's entirely possible.
