V'Ger, the Whale Probe, the Borg

V'Ger and the whale probe are coming. None of the changes made will stop them, although Original Recipe Spock has knowledge that could make handling them much easier. The Borg are more complicated. It's unlikely Q will take Jean Luc Picard and his Ent D to the Delta Quadrant since Picard probably won't exist anymore. If that doesn't happen, then the Borg won't move towards the alpha quadrant anytime soon.

The Borg are probably on their way - remember, they still will eventually (in the 24th century) receive the signal sent by the Arctic drones in the mid-22nd century. Unless another Alpha or Beta Quadrant ship gets sent their way, they may not take as much an interest as quickly as before, but they will still make their way toward Earth.

Changes to the timeline would propagate into the past if they alter a backwards time travel event. In other words, if the time travel in First Contact is prevented then there would not be any Arctic Drones to send a signal.

No....

They created a new universe when Nero and Spock altered the time-line, but everything that happened to their universe before the intrusion was identical, including the crash landing of the Borg sphere in the Arctic. As Spock was able to travel to the past and stay in the new time line without being "erased", so too would the downed Borg. There would be no "time wave" or whatever altering past events.

Ok, I know this will seem like a troll chiming in to flame, but I just felt compelled to comment.
The way that I take it, while this timeline has been changed to an extreme degree (losing a federation founder), many key events will still happen. Nomad, and V'ger are still on their way, as is the Whale Probe. The Borg will receive the distress call from the reactivated borg....maybe. Those drones were dispatched by Picards Crew in the "Prime" Trek universe. In this prime universe, the final attack on Earth by the Borg set in motion events that LED to the Borg discovering Earth/Alpha Quadrent civilizations. Will "Abrams-verse" Picard (or who ever captains the Ent. in the 24th century) do the same...only time will tell.
But, it is my belief that there WILL be a Jean-Luc Picard in his time period. And more than likely, he WILL serve in SF. I know that chaos theory dictates otherwise, but if you look at the Trekverse (or now Trek Multiverse), you see alot of chances for things to go wrong but don't.
As to the 'sexism' thing: this movie was no more sexist than the source material. There were no female commanders/captains on TOS. Heck, the closest thing to a female in charge was a Romulan captain, and she flolded for Spock like a bad bond girl. Seriously, if anyone can think of a female in a position of power in any TOS EPISODE, toss it out here. (ok, the drill thralls, but do they really count....once again, they turned into schoolgirls for Kirk and Checkov)

One obvious Female in a lead role is Number 1 from "The Cage", ST:TOS Pilot episode. Not as well verse in my Trek knowledge to know her real name but I'm sure someone will fill it in.

Since there will be no Picard there is no Q and no contact with the Borg, no contact with the Borg means no 'First Contact' movie, meaning there are no Borg in 'ENT' to send a signal back to the Delta Quadrant.

I tend to think Q's fling across the galaxy wasn't meant for Picard & Co. to shake the Borg's hand. The Borg were on the way already (probably as a result of their first encounter with the Raven), and Q was simply giving humanity "a helping hand" in his own cloaked way. Imagine what would have happened to the Federation had that BOBW cube had come when nobody even knew about the Borg? I think Q wanted humans to be around a little longer.

Whether or not there will be any scientists that pack up and fly to the Delta Quadrant in the new timeline remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the Borg are out there. The question is when there will be an encounter, not if.
