'Variety' reviews Star Trek XI

...besides I don't even have the right equipment unless it's purchased ;) :p So it was just a mere suggestion and most certainly not an offer LOL.

Well at the rate they're going with merchandising the new film, I'm sure you'll be able to get a Star Trek-branded strap-on soon enough. That should keep everybody happy.

Yes and it would make a fine addition to my stable of sex toys! :techman:

How dare this douche say that Classic Trek was "stodgy" and "square"

Because it is - just flat-out is. "Stodgy" might almost have been coined to describe TOS.

it wasn't "stodgy". it was "square" though

Actually, I was thinking "stodgy" suited it better than "square." It's certainly stagey and mannered.
"Tastes great!"
"Less filling!"

Maybe can get the guy who did the spork to do a custom NCC-1701-model strap-on with the Starfleet delta insignia and carrying case.

That's why they made the nacelles bigger. The Doomsday Machine drove Kirk crazy with all that "is it in, yet?" shit - finally it left him for the CockRock.

I truly does amuse me that pretty much any time a remake/reboot is done that there's always this group of fans that almost seem obligated to bash the original it was based on.

Most people are.

I love how some fans feel they need to bash the original in order to express how much they like the reboot.
I love TOS, but I have also been making fun of many aspects of it since the mid-1970s.

When we were kids, my brothers and I used to riff on TOS much like Joel, Mike, Servo, and Crow would have -- but in a "loving" sort of way.

I've done the same thing. Hard not to, considering how uber-cheesy the worst TOS episodes are on so many levels.

^
^^Even the best of them had their share of "cheesiness" -- including the dialogue. However, that does not nullify their overall story quality.

If I'm not mistaken, Mike Nelson and the 'Bots actually made fun of "Miri" or some other(even worse)TOS clunker at some special event in L.A. or Minneapolis a few years back.

Sick as this is......I'd buy it ;) But just for the carrying case of course wink wink ...that would be grand, not to mention hygenic!

This variety review is glowing....a little too brightly I may add....

It's true...there are certain someones who are out for some TOS blood which I can't understand why...why the hatred....that's what it is...not just some good ole' TOS ribbing, it's like geniune hate. It's bad enough having to defend TOS your whole life to others...but then have to do it with these supposed fans is bullshit.

Roykirk & Eddie may joke around about TOS, but it's done with love and it's done tastefully... (or it better fuckin be :p). but there are some others who want to be all hoity toity and condescending to my (our) TOS and I'm not havin it. So I'm completely sick of TOS bashing, I don't go around putting down the other Treks...why would I do that? We need to support each other duh...so please stop the TOS bashing or you may find my reboot up your ass. :guffaw:

So this variety must think this movie is perfect if they said not one bad word about it...

Perhaps some people hate TOS because they were forced to defend their favorite TNG era show(s) from vehemently hardcore OS "only" fans.

Well I'm sorry to hear that...maybe next time you can rise above that childish behavior (LOL look who's talking...) and said just because they're doing this to me ...I'll make sure not to act that way because it's so distasteful!

As I said in the TOS forum, I was surprised that these Trek spinoffs had fans of their own and a lot of said fans never even saw TOS... I would of thought it would be the other way around...but no matter what it's Trek and we really should just stick together....the world has enough division don't you think....OK EVERYBODY AND ALL TOGETHER......KUM - BAY-YA MY LORD.....KUM BAY YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I saw TOS before there was anything else. It was just Star Trek.
Sometimes it *was* cheesy and over the top. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes not. Certain aspects of the series simply haven't aged well. Who would have thought we'd still be watching those original 79 40+ years later??

Yet..mention that to some people and you've ass raped their children and the pitchforks come out.

As if TOS is some sacred text incapable of having any flaws.

Then these same people feel that they have the right to trash talk every other Trek shows, send death threats to producers and petition to get Star Trek shows cancelled.
These people also call themselves "fans."

The reviews are in for Trek XI and they are predominantly positive. The only negatives
coming out 'round here are from those who haven't seen the film and "never" intend to.

Take those opinions for what they're worth. I have.
