I still remember the mothers who brought their kids to see the South Park movie. The reactions on their faces when the Terrance And Phillips song started was priceless.
I'm thinking, "Yes it's a cartoon, but how did you miss the R rating?" Animation isn't just for kids.
I can only imagine how parents felt after taking their kids to "Heavy Metal" in 1981...

I really like it too, with my one quip being the side adventure that served no purpose to the actual story--although I believe it was a set up for the boy with the broom that was never addressed in XII.
I was never allowed to watch such movies as a kid. I snuck out of bed late at night a couple of times to watch the Shining and Exorcist, but although scary, they didn't bother me. Later, as a teenager, a remember being really bothered by Murphy's killing in Robocop and a number of scenes in Full Metal Jacket.
I agree the side quest is the weakest part. But because it does set up the ending with stable boy which is, imo, the absolute pitch perfect ending for the movie I wouldn't even change that part. I suppose it could be shortened a bit but that's it.
If I were to quibble with anything it would be the scene where Rose stops Finn from destroying the cannon on the salt flats. That was just weird and confusing. But also a very minor part of the film.

To me, 'Blazing Saddles' and 'Saturday Night Fever' are pretty 'tame' R-rated movies, closer to PG-13 today. I was more disturbed by the violence in 'Watership Down' and certain scenes in 'Allegro Non Troppo', and they were animated movies.
According to the Los Angeles Times (sorry at work, can't post a link) AMC theaters will be introducing 'Variable Pricing' on blockbuster movies, starting with 'The Batman'.
It will cost more to sit in premium seats and more depending on time of day and how full the theater is.

“This is all quite novel in the United States, but actually AMC has been doing it for years in our European theaters. Indeed, in Europe we charge a premium for the best seats in the house — as do just about all sellers of tickets in other industries — take sports events, concerts and live theater, for example.” Aron sees “considerable upside opportunity ahead if we continue to be imaginative” on pricing.

We're coming out of a pandemic, inflation is at a forty year high, people have less disposable income and he decides now is the time to try and do this.
With the ever shortening window between release and streaming, people might decide to vote with their wallet and wait to watch it at home.

The Odeon cinema in my city has been charging more for blockbusters for years. And it was already the most expensive cinema in town.
A new Cineworld cinema opened last year, I think it’s marginally dearer for its big screens - IMAX, Screen 4X etc. I’ve booked tickets to see The Batman in IMAX for Tuesday - it’ll be my first ever IMAX film, so quite looking forward to that experience as well as the film itself.

I'll believe that when I see it. People bitch and moan about prices but then don't ever change behavior. You want to demonstrate it, change behaviors and actually don't watch the film.
I'll wait for people to not watch a movie.
I will definitely be prioritizing Regals and single screen theaters once this begins. Unfortunately AMC is everywhere so this will not be convenient. It will probably still be the cheapest option on Tuesdays too - $5.
If you still have a local single screen movie palace near you, support the crap out of it! They will all be gone soon :-(
BINGO! If theater owners want to keep digging their own graves, that's on them.
As much I'd like to see this, I have no qualms with waiting 45 days after release to watch it at home. No dealing with heavy traffic to get there, parking, ridiculous ticket prices, ridiculous food and drink prices*(I can eat at a buffet for what they charge for a popcorn and coke), people not shutting up while the film plays etc. etc. My home system is more than enough for the trade off in screen size.
But was it implemented in Europe immediately after the highest spike in inflation in my lifetime as gas prices are soaring to record numbers with no signs of settling and people are still finding their way financially after a global pandemic?
The tone deafness is in the timing, not in the act in general.
Especially when people are looking for reasons to never go to a theatre again anyways because of the convenience of streaming.
I haven't been to a movie in 3 years and I certainly don't miss it. Not that I have an AMC in my area, but I wish I did so that I could watch it not get my business.
Ok my local AMC is now charging $25 for Batman. I'd love to find out what the price is but their site is completely broken. I need to reset my password, get the email to do it I click the link and it says I have to log in to change my password. So I login and it just takes me to the same page telling me to reset. As a software engineer this is utterly infuriating! How do you release this kind of garbage into production? Shame on AMC engineers.
OMG so this experience was on safari. When I copied the link location from my email into Chrome it worked but no matter what password I try to change to it just said "invalid form submission". Completely disgraceful software. They bring shame to my whole profession.

IMAX, 4dx, etc are always higher, that's not what the variable pricing is referring too.
? People are voting with their wallet, that's why AMC is trying to raise more revenue through variable pricing. Even before Covid AMC was a failing business. It barely escaped declaring bankruptcy last year, thanks in part due to being a meme stock like GameStop.
