Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Is this the same excerpt that was up on the Voyages of the Imagination website?

Got my copy today. Can't wait to read it.

Side Note: Will Distant Early Thunder be available in book form anytime soon? Seeing as how it's a prequel of sorts to vanguard, I'd be interested in reading it.

I believe it will appear in print when the Corps of Engineers / S.C.E reaches that point in the trade paperbacks (next year?).

By the way, don't wait until then to read it. I highly recommend getting it in eBook format and reading it as soon as you can. It's very good.

Distant Early Warning.

Random observance...
This is the first time I've seen you ever not put "Fictitiously yours" at the end of your post.

For some reason this shocks me.

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

The absolute soonest we're likely to see Distant Early Warning in print form is in 2009.

Partially. The excerpt on the S&S site is the complete first chapter; previous excerpts were either only a part of the first chapter, or a scene from the middle of the book.

You call that a whirlwind? Chapter One is merely a mild breeze, my friend. When you hit Chapter Eight, grab something heavy --- because that's when the twister hits....

Reyes has two ex's?

Two ex's! Man, I'd hate to confront one of mine.
Not even if they were engaged in interspecies sapphica?

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

The more I read of this book the better it seems. I can't wait to read this. O and happy birthday David Mack.

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Happy Birthday David.

I have Reap the Whirlwind sitting waiting for me at Borders right now. Going to get it later today. So much for Amazon. ;)

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

cool chapter can't wait to read the book. Happy Birthday! :)

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Just saw the book at the Borders in Columbia, Maryland (between Washington, D.C., and Balmer, Merlin (Baltimore, Maryland, for non-natives).

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Happy birthday, David and your book was not at the B&N I visited today.

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Happy Birthday Dave...all the best...but hey, speaking of Whirlwind...I have two questions:

1. Do we get to see the Romulans again?
2. What was your inspiration for the title? I have my thoughts on these, but I wanted to know the 'real' source.

Looking forward to getting my copy real soon...

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

Jeremy,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. To answer your questions, the Romulans do not play a direct role in Reap the Whirlwind. The inspiration for the title was a post by a TrekBBS poster whose handle is Ratboy, and its source is the Old Testament, Hosea 8:7. It is intended to speak to people being made to face the consequences of their actions.

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

^ Thanks Dave...sorry to hear about the Romulans, but pretty cool about the source of the title...I happened to be reading from The Book Of Mormon and the day that the title was announced, I happened to come across a block of scripture where the expression was used. Similar to that mentioned in Hosea....très cool, I must say.

Re: Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind excerpt is up

David,

The Romulans were featured in the last chapter ( I think) of STT. Wouldn't something happen with that arc in Reap the Whirlwind?
