Vancouver Olympics Discussion

One of the commentators on CTV said the SH goal was one of the best he's ever seen. I agree, if there can be such a thing.

Well I'm hoping that Babcock will finally take his head out of his ass and start Luongo in the next game.
If he does that, maybe he'll keep Iginla with Crosby & Nash where he belongs.

On that note, Team Canada sadly lacks someone named "Stills."

If more than one Staal brother had made it onto Team Canada, they'd have Crosby, Staals, and Nash.

Awesome av! Sit down, old man! :guffaw:

Working on an animated version of it.

Bettman is speaking now about Olympics in Russia

I turned it off. Did he say anything worth listening to or was it the same old bullshit he usually shovels?

They were sloppy the whole game. Bad turnovers led to a lot of USA's best scoring opportunities.

Team USA's hustle created a lot of those turnover opportunities and they were able to capitalize. From the opening face off, they put pressure on Brodeur when he was playing the puck and it worked.

The empty net goal showed how hard Team USA was skating and how much they were hustling.

Add that to Ryan Miller standing on his head - the save on Iginla in the 3rd on the scramble comes to mind - and you've got a pretty good recipe for success.

If Canada had their heads in the game defensively (and had gone with Luongo or Fleury), things could have been a lot different.

And if my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle. Canada flat out got outskated on home ice. Say what you will about the skill level and experience, a team that hustles and moves their feet for a full 60 minutes is always going to be in a game.

Yeah the USA players definitely worked much harder than the Canadians. That final goal by Kesler is a great example of that... Perry should have had that puck. And Brodeur was trying to do way too much.

Ryan Miller sure had a helluva game. He made some fantastic saves. I just hope the U.S. team doesn't let the excitement of the win get to them and have a letdown later on.

Perhaps my favourite Olympic story ever:

That's Your Sister? Four of the ice-dancing pairs competing in Vancouver are siblings—and this year, there's a compulsory tango routine. How they get around the awkwardness.

Yuck. Glad I didn't see the tango routines. I watched some of last night's ice dancing on the late night repeat and even that was creepy when siblings skated. Then again, the whole cultural/folk thing was rather odd.

^Indeed my old commie friend. I became a mod shortly after those days :D I still have pictures of you with reindeer antlers on!

That hockey game tomorrow will be a good one I'll wager...but I still am putting my bet on Canada, if Crosby can get his wingmen to play along :p

I wish I took that bet.

USA! USA! USA!

Those were some strange cultural costumes/dances! No wonder the Canadian team stood out so much...not to mention how perfectly they skated.

3 points ahead...it's ours to lose methinks :techman:

Canada's Women's Hockey Team on their way to gold against the US :techman:

Waiting for the Canadian Dance pair to skate :techman:
