I love these schematics!!!!!!

Should the impulse deck extend outward as shown by the red arrow?

Since I only have a couple of posts I guess the image will not show :)

Sorry about the artifacts I forgot to reduce the jpeg compression.

I know how you feel. I wasted a great deal of time trying to save stuff on JPG without that weird distortion showing up. I suspect that's the reason why all of Vance's schematics are on GIF...

Once upon a time, just before FASA lost their Star Trek RPG license, they released miniatures of the Andor and Northampton. (This was ***WAY*** back in the days of yore, when miniatures were still made of lead.) Seeing these designs in three dimensions answers more than a few questions about them...

I'm older than you think, guy. I had those miniatures.

The Northampton was accurate from the top and had a 'hood', which isn't evident on the side and fore views. The artist (whose name that I've forgotten, unfortunately) for the miniature admitted that he fudged to get something that worked.

Hell I still have those Mini's. :) I just don't have a case nice enough to display them in and the wife likes the Nautical motif of the rec room so I can't display them there :( My office would need a lot more shelf space to display both the fasa and SFB Minis :klingon: Great work by the way Vance. Keep it up:techman:

I wasn't going to put out any more... but...

Vance, does this mean you are going to keep putting out the tool-kits? If so will you be doing tool-kits for the other eras of Trek?

Yeah, and of course I made such a basic mistake and promptly used it on a bunch of other ship types that were also DH versions. Ah well, it's fixed now (refresh as needed). I'll just write it off as an unintentional gallery update. :)

Oh yeah. When I first did these, I was learning off of Harry and doing a lot of color and gradient play. The BMP format was just too huge, and the JPG format munged everything all to hell. I may try again soon with color, and see if PNG gives me better results.

I would love to have display space for some of my things. My 'pulp' lego collection is all I got that's displayable, and that's on racks in my closet. Alas. I would love to get into physical modelling, though, some of the new 1/2500 kits, in particular, are really nice.

So, I'm not really sure on the feedback here... are you guys glad I put this up? :P

Do the TMP versions of Kearsarge and Chicago have the same kind of impulse engine mounts as TMP Napoleon, MacArthur and Van Maanen? It's hard to tell with the warp engine mounts blocking the top views...

On TMP Kearsarge, the warp nacelles are inverted in the top view (compared to the front and side views)...

Wouldn't TMP Kearsarge and Chicago have their warp nacelles mounted in a similar fashion to each other, since Chicago is supposed to be a Kearsarge variant?

Are there new 1/2500 kits? The only ones I knew about were the two 3-Ship Enterprise Sets. Set 1 has Constitution (TOS), Constitution Refit (TMP) and Galaxy (TNG). Set 2 has Excelsior Refit (1701-B), Ambassador (1701-C) and Sovereign (1701-E). If there are other models at that scale currently out there, I would be interested. There was also the model of Deep Space 9 at that scale, but I don't believe that one is still being made. I lost mine in a house fire years ago, but I still have a couple of the little tiny (9mm long) Danube runabouts that came with it...
