Love the SFB Hermes.
The nice thing about SOME of FASA's designs is that they can be salvaged, thanks to the minimal effort in some of the artwork.
Granted, it doesn't work for all their ships...and after seeing the Huntressis the Soyuz class coming soon?
I'm doing build-ups to get to the Soyuz. I've got the so-called 'sensor pods', and did the ball turret on the Williamson. The next step is the Soyuz herself, but the challenge THERE is getting some pictures that are remotely accurate.
The official schematics, the fan schematics, and the studio model are pretty far off from one another, so I'm struggling a little to get the 'right' look.

That's so. Also, where does the information come from that the projecting bits are phasers? They don't look much like any phasers we have seen elsewhere, and I think the Encyclopedia referred to them as "sensor pods" somewhere, so /r SAUCE on that info plox.
Continuing to look at it, the Soyuz seemed to have a 'custom' bridge thrown around the usual refit bridge. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good screen shot in order to be sure. There aren't many good shots of the ship, as it was shown with some deliberate obfuscation, and the Soyuz modifications were ripped off the Miranda after this episode, and was never rebuilt. The best shot is below... which could indicate a larger 'bubble', but it's definitely not the Phase II bridge.
Also, as I stated, the official schematics are also decidedly off, and do show a straight-up Miranda-class bridge. I just went for the happy medium on this one, and focused on modelling up the more dramatically different parts.

Most of the fan guides that came out had declared the obviously tank-turret like structures as phaser-batteries of some sort. The Encyclopedia, of course, declared them as sensor pods. And, of course, they don't look a thing like any OTHER sensors we've ever seen, or have seen since.
At the end of the day, the Soyuz was a rush job (as Rick Sternbach has often admitted) and wasn't really meant to stand up to close scrutiny. Since there's nothing on screen about the ship's capabilities, and likely there will never BE anything on screen for them, I'm thinking it makes more sense to let fans have the flavor they want.

Wasn't my ship. More like Mike Okuda and Greg Jein. I don't recall talking that much about it.

Nope. I went to do a Phase II Bridge variant to see if it was closer, and the B-C deck assembly is completely different. It's definitely a custom build up with an unfinished TMP 'mickey mouse' arrangement. (The translucent dome mount is missing, as it is on the photographed Phase II model, but it reappears in other shots.) The B/C assembly looks like it was thrown in specifically in a way that the Miranda bridge could be retained underneath it.
The official schematics, of course, retain a Miranda-class bridge and B/C deck. Like I said earlier, I was shooting for happy mediums all around.
Heh, sorries, didn't mean to attribute it to you mistakenly. I just have repeatedly heard that most of the TNG-VOY ships were wreck-bashes not really meant for close examination - and had also read in an article (which was attributed to you) that the Bozeman was supposed to be a TOS-era ship originally but that a model couldn't be made in time.
