Vance's Schematics III

Napoleon Class Carrier (U)
From SFB

Great work on the Maguellanes Vance. I always had a soft spot for her and her variant designs. Are you going to do any of her similar classes?

Eventually, yes. Right now I'm clearing out a lot of other designs (most of which for completeness sakes) and mixing in a few 'special' ones to try to keep this series interesting. :)

I don't mean to sound too picky, but I'm not fond of some of Festus's designs. They're not bad concepts, but it seems like he likes to make his nacelles jut at weird angles and to make the pylons really long.

Well, the Festus's designs are done at least. I'm not sure where they originated, but they look like the old 'photocopy bash' designs that ran around Trek fandom in the 1970s... basically lifting parts from the Technical Manual and claiming them as new 'designs'.

Verra nice, but the nacelles look a little close to the flight plane of anything using those last three hangar doors. Even with tractor-guided landings, it looks like an invitation to trouble.

I know, but unfortunately it's a major flaw with the original design, so it wasn't something I could change easily without going too far from my intent - a TMP upgrade to an SFB design. :S

Speaking of nacelles blocking hangars.

So, can i assume that you won't follow Jackill's lead on declaring the Ent-B's additional impulse engines to be hangar bays?

^^^ :) I always loved Jackill's work, but I never understood the reasoning behind making the extra glowing red modules at the aft of the primary hull to be shuttle bays.

No, they're pretty clearly insanely-oversized impulse engines. I can't quite see how any effects shots lend themselves to the idea that they're shuttlebays.
