USS Vengeance name

It's called USS Vengeance officially, it's just unmarked as in it has no visible hull markings and no NCC.

Khan even called it Dreadnought Class, so it has some listings somewhere in a database, just not a Starfleet one.

Oh my god, y’all. The Vengeance is an actual name for actual ships. It’s not some made up, crazy thing.

Yep, one served the US revolutionary War in the Continental Navy, the other was in the US Navy during the Barbary Coast conflict.

and more recently there's an HMS Vengeance in the Royal Navy now, it's particularly well named as it carries the "Last Instructions" of her magesty's government.

as a name for Starfleet, considering it was intended probably deal more pro-actively with the troubles the Federation had experienced with Romulans and Klingons, it was well named.

...If anything, Vengeance is a "reactive" name, taking the guilt off the actor because the other guy did it first and had it coming. Thus well suited for a pretentiously pacifist Starfleet, especially with Marcus in lead.

Conqueror might be a tad more aggressive for the lack of implied guilt-alleviating factors. It's a common enough name ITRW.

Funnily enough, USN tends to vent its aggression through the humblest ships,as the big fighting vessels all have themes going, typically geographical and therefore somewhat clinical. It's the minesweepers that get to be called Devastator or Avenger...
