USS Titan 3D pic????

They Secondary Hull Pylons are actually to scale with my Schematics.
Alot of the blockyness that you see has to do with the lighting they wanted.

As for the glowing ring on the The lower Dome. That is the secondary
Sensor pod. I modeled that off of the Ent-A and updated it a little.

As for the nav lights, yes Marco is aware that they need to be fixed. Ellery
handed him off a batch of renders that were correct but this is what they did.

Marco has told me that it will be fixed before it reaches print. If you look at
the couple of other shots I have on my deviant art site you will see that the nav lights are correct.

Here is the latest WIPs shot of the Titan and a quick blurb from Ellery Connell

"Well, I have heard some requests for shots of the Titan... I am really not quite finished. I had left it alone for a long time since I couldn't show the WIP much before the cover was released. Since the cover is now availabe publicly, I have railed off a few renders of the Titan mesh that I built for the book. The bottom side was "finished" for the cover but I will be going back and touching it up a lot once I have the top built. I'll post more as I get work done. Enjoy!"

I really like it. There is a fine line between keeping with established styling, and being derivative, but I think you managed to keep to the former. Well done.

That was an homage to the older series.

Strange, it looks so out of place. If that's the first official "book" picture of the Titan, they should've shown it as designed. :wtf:

It is as designed take a look at my schmatics.

Your schematics show both warp nacelles the same. The cover of the book shows the port nacelle completely different than the starboard nacelle.

it's just the angle you're seeing it from. they both look the same to me, we just see more of the inside of the port nacelle.

I'm talking about the book cover. It's more than just the angle, that port nacelle looks completely different and so does the connecting strut. It looks like it's from a completely different ship. Almost like the original port nacelle was destroyed and they bolted on anything they could find.

The schematics look fine, both nacelles are the same.

NiteTrek...

What you think you're seeing is just a trick of perspective. Both nacelles really are "correct" (as Sean drew them up, as being very similar to the Akira-class's engines but slightly larger).

Look at the computer-generated image, above, which shows almost the same angle (but mirrored) and it SHOULD be more clear.

I think that the painting job is... well, some shadowing effects are a bit off, and that's playing optical trick with us. Hopefully, the final printed version will be tweaked a bit more, so that the play of shadows doesn't fool the eye so much (like my first impression of the nacelle pylons as being attached to blocks, while that was really just a hard-edged shadow).

Here is the latest shots that Ellery has completed. This is the WIP shots
of the Primary Sensor Pod on the top side of the Titan.

Titan Designer,

I have a request. I'm using an image of an Intrepid-class ship in a game, along with the one below of a Romulan Warbird. It's freeware, part of my LCARS public project, not for a Web site. I'd like to use an image of the Titan in the next version, but only with permission and if it's good image. The one at bottom left in your large mesh shot above but colored and on a fully black background so that the profile of the ship is the same width as the Warbird here (the image can be taller, as long as the width is no greater) would be perfect.

If that's okay, please say so and post it here. If not, I'll do without the Titan.

Thanks.

LCARs,

The problem is that Sean ("Titan Designer") doesn't actually own the design. When he won the contest, the design became property of Simon and Schuster. (wince) Isn't that right, Sean?

So, S&S is who you'll have to get permission from, I think. On the other hand, if you were to create your own image based upon things you've seen, without using a direct exact copy of what's been published, I think you'd be clear.

Agreements? Disagreements?

Wow, dude, this ship totaly kicks a**! Great work and cant wait to read the new book. Unfortunatly im still on the second one right now(Still reading Peter Davids new one ;)
But can't wait to get my hands on this, if only for the picture! I seriously hope we get to see it on TV or the bigscreen someday.
