Continuing the tradition of ugly ships since Star Trek: First Contact. There isn't a designer who have the imagination and wonder like Matt Jefferies and Jim Martin had??? Damn it!Here's as close as you're ever gonna get to the USS Discovery in The Original Series.

(and that's the Discovery as she appeared in the first teaser trailer, which is probably closer to what she's look like in the TOS version of the Trek universe)

The more I see these abominations of Trek like Deep Space Nine -War Seasons, Voyager, ST: Enterprise, and now Discovery it continues make Star Trek appear like a soar thumb. These assholes from the Berman Production to Discovery continue to rewrite tech definitions, and the world which were wonderfully established just to make it their own. When I just got accustomed to what Trek Aliens looked like, now they're reinterpreted once again and make ridiculous explanations for these bogus changes. No other Trek series can slap TOS in the face, believe me!

Yeah, for some reason Mark Lenard's price has gone way up lately. He's also not returning his agent's calls very much.If it ain't Shatner or Nimoy then it isn't the same universal quadrant! The fact that Mark Lenard isn't Sarek in DSC proves that for me!

Star Trek never had to make such Jovian leaps to justify changes which are clearly stupid. New viewers of Trek I've encountered never had the reaction O'Brien had of Klingons in DS9's Trials... never asked the question of why they eventually became space-werewolves? Of all the time on TNG where these characters seem to have a history book on their shelves and know everything, but O'Brien and genetically superior mind Bashir, the smart ones, was shocked. I wonder what their reaction would be when they take a look at the Klingons from Discovery??? O'Brien's big head will explode.
Star Trek created this world and it was fine the way it was. Everything in Discovery and ST: Enterprise was hard to swallow then and now. But for some Trekfans all of that doesn't matter, as long as they can see ships going into Warp, reference several lines from superior work, and witness carnage, violence, and explosions they'll continue to watch.
Hey, DS9 was good. Actually, some things about ENT were good too, although much disappointed me about that show as well. The more I see these abominations of Trek like Deep Space Nine -War Seasons, Voyager, ST: Enterprise, and now Discovery it continues make Star Trek appear like a soar thumb. TOS contradicted the future seen in TOS. The most consistent thing about Star Trek is it's inconsistency.ENT suffered from similar writing to DSC and also contradicted the future as seen in TOS! Can't do that!

The future as seen in their reality is what I was referring to.The future as seen in their reality I was talking about not our reality!

The internet has gone multiuniversal.I wonder if we are in the same reality, Nerys?

Alpha. We get all the top words Alpha, One, Prime, Magnum, Major, Uno..... We're the best. But which universal quadrant are you from?

I think cloaking devices? But the use of claiming devices actually contradicts "Balance of Terror" so it doesn't really matter. Maybe it was something else that was abandoned.I have a question for the people here that have seen Discovery, I don't want to post there because I don't want to know anything just yet except this one thing: In the lead up to Discovery they announced that something from Balance of Terror is important to the premise of Discovery, can someone tell me what that was only? Or if it was dropped? I'm curious about that because I like Balance of Terror so much and I do want to see Discovery, some day, and don't want to go into their forums.
The next generation created their own universe and I appreciated what was done, and they made leaps to distance themselves from TOS. Also, even an episode of Trek, "Time's Arrow" referenced Worf as a "Werewolf" so the comparison is on par.Space Werewolves? I'm a TOS fan through and through but I wouldn't say I hate TNG, DS9 or VOY! The other versions like ENT and especially DSC I may watch but I don't count as genuine, bona fide Trek!
