The closed captioning people did that. Why? Dunno.I'm sure he botched it, but CBS put "Discovery" in italics.

Just exploration. But there is no Discovery in the TOS universe!!!

Maybe Kat is Kirk's admiral and he was calling the Discovery because he knew she was making another booty call for Lorca.I'm fine with either "Kirk brainfarted" or "Kirk's CO at the time had flagged USS Discovery (not necessarily even NCC-1031) and Kirk was reporting to his admiral".
Yes, he was attempting to contact Gary Mitchell, who didn't die but rather traveled back in time, changed his name to Frank Poole, and humbly set out on another space mission.Maybe he meant the 2001 Discovery![]()
I wasn't aware Mister Hunter had travelled to the future and joined Starfleet. His death must have been a fake out.If we ever get to see who is commanding the USS Enterprise in DSC and it turns out not to be Jeffrey Hunter then we know for sure this ain't our TOS universe like I've been saying!

They'll use Sean KenneyHe didn't, but he did play the role of Captain Christopher Pike in the pilot of the show! And I was wondering if they fail to use old footage of him in the next episode we'll get closure on the our universe or not thread!

Sarek's already been recast so if you're going by actors, it's already moot.He didn't, but he did play the role of Captain Christopher Pike in the pilot of the show! And I was wondering if they fail to use old footage of him in the next episode we'll get closure on the our universe or not thread!

I'm with you. I think Discovery is in the NuTrek timeline. And if anyone tries to respond with some quote from some producer saying it's in the Prime timeline, I will engage in the time honored debate tactic of sticking my fingers in my ears and loudly stating "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU."If we ever get to see who is commanding the USS Enterprise in DSC and it turns out not to be Jeffrey Hunter then we know for sure this ain't our TOS universe like I've been saying!

I'll respond with a quote from Admiral Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness, set 2259:I'm with you. I think Discovery is in the NuTrek timeline.
