    The Alternative Factor is entertaining.

Whereas What Are Little Girls Made of is a slog because of the muddy colors and lack of investment in Chapel.

I would like DS9 even more if Ezri had replaced Jadzia sooner. I greatly preferred Ezri's character and found her more interesting.
Plus the character had potential they couldn't exploit in just one season.

I'm the opposite. I enjoy that era and style of music and I'll take every Vic Fontaine scene every day and twice on Sunday over any Bajoran religious scene/episode.

I’m not getting all the Jadzia hate around here.

She was a bright spot in a dreary universe.

Was that DS9's universe or our universe?

I'm currently taking advantage of the free month of CBS All Access to catch up on PICARD and DISCOVERY. Although I'm enjoying a lot of PICARD (I'm on episode 6 right now), it reminds me of an old pet peeve of mine (I don't think this is a big spoiler for PIC, but I'll put it in code just in case):

I REALLY wish that Picard was the only person who ever came back from Borg assimilation. And yes, that includes Hugh and Seven of Nine. Picard being rescued from the Borg was supposed to be a miraculous, one time thing. For there to be an entire group of people who came back from Borg assimilation really dilutes the entire concept, IMO.

Or, to put it in a more general way, I hate it whenever Trek repeats itself by having one character repeat a feat that another character already did, like having new Captain characters make Captain even younger than Kirk, or VOY having Tuvok also undergo Kolinahr and leave the program without completing it the way that Spock did in TMP, or ENT also throwing Archer into the Klingon prison Rura Penthe, the way that Kirk and McCoy were in TUC. You've already done that, people. We've already seen it. Do something else.

Well I strongly dislike both that era and that style of music.

And there's enough movies and TV shows set in the time period when that style of music was mainstream. And even directly from that time period.
So I see no need to shove it into SciFi set hundreds of years in the future and force it into multiple episodes, often without serving any point in the story and even make a whole episode about it.
Plus even without the music his dialogue was pure, undiluted cringe.

We never saw the Alamo or the Camelot programs, so I don't see why they needed to torture us with Vic.
I mean I dislike Holodeck episodes in general, because when I watch SciFi, I wanna see SciFi. Not Picard LARPing a Noir story, not Janeway pretending to be Jane Eyre and not people hanging out in a Nightclub with a slimy, smarmy crooner.
I wanna see Space Ships and Alien Cultures and Galactic Politics and well if you gotta have musical numbers, why not try to make it Alien music..the musical number in Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi was awesome.

You mean "torture you" not "torture us".

The production staff obviously liked it or it wouldn't have been there. Some like it, some don't. You're a Star Trek fan, right? IDIC.

So you don't like Vic when he's an incidental part of an episode and you don't like him when he's essential to the episode. Man, he can't win for losing with you. ;)

Everything I say is subjective and only my opinion. I just assume people around here understand that without me having to point it out explicitly.

Oh he could; if he died horribly in an episode :nyah:
Or if he was a completely different character.
Honestly I would already be happy if he was an alien singing at Quark's, even if it was lounge music. Well, not "happy" but "happier"

That wasn't Jane Eyre, it was Turn Of The Screw. I don't care if they said it was Jane Eyre, it was Turn Of The Screw.

A holographic Human singing lounge music in a holosuite in a bar at the far end of the Federation isn't an alien singing at Quark's?

Both are interesting in their own way. I prefer Ezri because I always liked Dax with Bashier, among other reasons. Ezri is more interesting character for me.

Come on, do you really think you're gonna change my mind or somehow "proof" my opinion "wrong" because of technicalities and calling "akshuallay"? You know that's not how it works.

You know very well I am alking about a bumpy headed Star Trek alien singing in the bar itself, not a hologram based on a human in a holosuite.
Also his Alien design would have to be particularly interesting to make it palatable to me. Like somewhere in the category of Trance from Andromeda.

Well I prefer Dax with Bashier over Worf, though I think I would have preferred Ezri on her own for a while, not being in any relationship.
But in general I thought Ezri had more potential in her character and I found her more relatable. We knew very little about Jadzia before she was joined and she seemed so good at everything and often she seemed kinda...well I don't wanna use the b word, but it seems like it really fits a lot of the time.
Even the way Exri reacted to the joining was, imho, a lot more realistic than Jadzia just being fine with the whole thing.

I'm not saying I wish Jadzia gone from the show, but I would have kinda preferred if we got like 4 seasons with her and 3 seasons with Ezri at least, simply so that there would have been more room to explore the latter's character and have her grow more.

Just thought of another example that bugs me: Didn't VOY establish that Janeway also had a friendship of sorts with Boothby at Starfleet Academy?

I considered that Boothby being friendly with many cadets. I had teachers and other school staff in high school that were people the students could go to for many reasons, most of them involving trust. It wouldn't surprise me if you did too. It never struck me as something special between Picard and Boothby, more just Boothby being a caring person that all the cadets could trust.

I'm with you. Up until the engine room scene it was one of my top few Trek films; what happened thereafter knocked it back a bit, but I'd still take it over most of the others.

While I liked Beyond, I'd have much preferred a direct sequel to ID.
