Universal Pictures are moving forward with a fourth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise. They've tapped George Nolfi, co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum, to pen the script. The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon are attached to the project.
The film will feature around an entirely new storyline, and not based on a previous Robert Ludlum novel.
I have to say, that while I cannot wait for a fourth Bourne, especially one under the helm of Greengrass and starring Damon (if they remained attached), I was kind of hoping they'd stick with Tony Gilroy, who has been with the series since The Bourne Identity. Now the Bourne franchise has seen numerous writers and re-writes from other writers, so Gilroy was never the only writer, but he was the one that always sat down to write the script first and his take on the Bourne franchise is undeniable.
Oh, well. I hope Greengrass brings him on to do a re-write, since I'm sure we'll see a slew of different writers tackle the script before it hits cameras.
Anyway, thoughts on this?
