Universal moving forward with fourth "Bourne"

Universal Pictures are moving forward with a fourth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise. They've tapped George Nolfi, co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum, to pen the script. The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon are attached to the project.

The film will feature around an entirely new storyline, and not based on a previous Robert Ludlum novel.

I have to say, that while I cannot wait for a fourth Bourne, especially one under the helm of Greengrass and starring Damon (if they remained attached), I was kind of hoping they'd stick with Tony Gilroy, who has been with the series since The Bourne Identity. Now the Bourne franchise has seen numerous writers and re-writes from other writers, so Gilroy was never the only writer, but he was the one that always sat down to write the script first and his take on the Bourne franchise is undeniable.

Oh, well. I hope Greengrass brings him on to do a re-write, since I'm sure we'll see a slew of different writers tackle the script before it hits cameras.

Anyway, thoughts on this?

Hell, they could use the entire plots from the Supremacy and Ultimatum novels for the next movies!

I thought they already made the 4rth bourne movie, its called Quantum of Solace....(runs and hides)....:p:lol:

No but seriously i really enjoy the Bourne films so I'm up for more.

Wonderful movies though I have the feeling that any 4th movie will be disliked by many fans but am sure it will hold its own. However I would say that they should end the franchise after a 4th movie.

I wonder where they have left to go in a fourth movie, but I'll wait and see. I certainly enjoyed the last film as much as the others in the series.

As long as Greengrass, Damon, and Gilroy are involved, I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully Julia Stiles will return, too.

The fourth film will be titled The Pourne Identity. Since he now knows who is he and none of the big bad suits are after him anymore, the movie will just be about him having sex with Julia Styles for two straight hours.

The Bourne Redundancy

don't get me wrong, I adored the trilogy - but I also loved how it ended, and don't have any particular desire to see more.

Aren't the novels actually about him going after some super terrorist called the Jackal? Why don't they do that?

How is it that posters around here can be so excited for the twenty-second James Bond movie, but in this thread people can be asking if there's enough story for a 4th Bourne film?

I'm gonna go with "yes, they'll figure something out."

^It's just that the Bourne trilogy as is had a definitive beginning, middle and end. The story set up in Identity has been thoroughly told.

It was also one of the few consistently good movie trilogies ever made.

I think the franchise is ready to move in a new direction while maintaining what we love about Bourne.

He know fully knows, or so we believe, the circumstances of what made him Bourne. He can now be the good soldier that signed up but with free will.

I like the Bourne movies and am curious to follow this.

I'm also glad that if the trailers are any indication Bond 22 QoS is once again looking like an action Bond movie and not a Bourne rip off like CR. Daniel Craig is more Bourne/Damon looking than the cinema Bond. Hence the apparant and justified rap of Craigs Bond series to date.

While I hope it's good, as others have said, this will actually be a sequel, as in a new story. Feels a bit odd after three movies spent on one story. But, again, I hope it's good.

The Bourne Delivery... he has 30 minutes to deliver the pizza or it's free, but he lost the address and forgot how to drive at the exact same time.
