Uniforms

Personally, I could see them going for something like this:

With appropriate Starfleet insignia and logos added of course.

If they do go with something new, I like this. It's almost kind of a hybrid of The Cage uniforms and the ones we saw on the USS Kelvin in Star Trek '09.

Wow, incredible argument you have put forward there! ;)

Well thank you.

No, the explanation that "best fits" is the one that ENT gave us onscreen.

No. It's really not. If it was, we would never have seen smooth heading Klingons becuz muh' #cranialreconstruction. No, there had do be a reason where it was honorable to be seen with a a smooth forehead. Being deformed like a weakling by a human virus is certainly not it.

We can't be getting fussy about uniforms having to match what was established on screen, whilst at the same time saying we should ignore events that were shown very clearly on other Trek shows.

Enterprise isn't Star Trek. You can blab all you want about how just because it is CBS IP and it was "seen on screen" but that doesn't make it so. Whether you accept my rejection of Enterprise or not, isn't my problem. My head is firmly in the sand on this issue.

Yeah, that's complete and utter nonsense. Enterprise is Star Trek for the very reasons you say it isn't (and that's coming from someone who doesn't like ENT.) You're confusing your own personal opinions for facts. You can keep your head in the sand all you want, and that's fine 'cause that's not my problem. But don't think that your opinions mean anything to anyone else but yourself, or that because you believe them that they now supercede the facts.

It's the only definition that matters. "My head canon" is a self-contradictory phrase worthy only of mockery.
Well, I agree and disagree. Head canon is inadmissible evidence in public forums like this -- as in, you can't use your head canon as a basis of facts, because then everyone would be talking about totally different universes. But I think some head canon can be harmless fun, as long as it's stated as such.

Well thank you.

You can reject all you want, it's still Star Trek. Fantasy worlds in your head don't count.

It's still a stupid phrase that means nothing other or more than " this is the stuff I like and that's the stuff I don't."

Here's a first look at the new uniforms. Let the wild speculation begin continue.
Collars!!! Collars!!!

Seriously though, I loved the collars in Beyond. This looks sorta similar, just from the half second footage. I'm all about the collars.

Of course, it's possible that there are tan or gold or red variations of that uniform as well - from a single image we obviously can't know whether they're going with a single color or multiple colors.

There are either single color, they have changed the color assignments again, or they grabbed the wrong department insignia for the promo shot (Engineering on blue).
