Uniforms color switch between TOS and TNG

Here's another take, not straight vanilla.

It's sort of a TOS upgrade, that addresses some issues I have with the three color scheme. Medical (sea green) is split from sciences and security (brown) is split from operations. Picard is wearing the captain's prerogative olive drab. Troi is wearing uniform colors at least, and Wesley is sent back to gray.

Y'know, there comes a point when uniforms stop being, well, uniform. I'm pretty sure sticking the whole cast in either different colours or different clothes qualifies!

US Navy flight deck crews use at least seven colors [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniforms_of_the_United_States_Navy#Flight_deck]. Nice picture there, too.

Yeah, but you have to reflect the fact that this is a TV show where there were only seven regulars who wore uniforms as standard. To get more than three - or four at a push - colours in, you have to go down the TWoK route and reduce the division colours to a small detail, or else it looks chaotic to the average viewer. Imagine the TWoK uniforms in division colours rather than maroon.

[Also, there would be the extra cost of making uniforms for extras and guest stars to account for...]

Already posted this in another thread (the Photoshop one?) but here's some of the cast in Yamato 2199 colors (or as close as I could get it in Worf's case).

You know, I can totally see Barclay freaking out over the orange...

A few years ago I did this crummy Photoshop job for a similar thread, just to get any idea of whawe're actual decoyseryone would look like if they kept the TOS scheme.

Here's how it would look ...

So can anyone give DS9 in TOS colors a try?

Kirk is sticking out so much with that color, he might as well run around with a shoot me sign. No wonder redshirts ended up dying left and right. They were actual decoys.
