"Unification" Line-by-Line

Sela: Cease fire! Holograms.

(Sela stands up - Just then, Spock steps out from behind a holographic wall, neck pinches one of Sela's guards, then Picard appears and punches out the other one. In the next moment, Sela finds herself face to face with the barrel of a Romulan disruptor)

Spock: I'm afraid I don't know much about Romulan Disruptor settings.

Sela puts her Disruptor down on a table. Spock pulls the rifle back from her head.

Spock: Cowboy Diplomacy?

(Picard looks around as the fake wall vanishes revealing Data at the computer panel on the wall)

Picard: Well done, Mr. Data. Though... I don't think you got Commander Riker's hair quite right.

Sela: It doesn't matter what you do now. Spock's announcement will be made in minutes. Our forces will be on Vulcan before you can alert anyone.

Back on the Enterprise, Crusher enters the bridge.

Crusher: We've just received a distress call from the colony on Dylisian 4, a massive failure of the environmental support systems. They're going to require evacuation.

Worf: One, Sir, a Rutian Archeological vessel.

And why did Crusher get this call and not the Bridge? Do the Romulans to set this up only call sickbay?!

Beverly: I'm sure it's not equipped to handle something of this scale, Will.

(Maybe cause it was a medical distress call? Who knows. Most likely it was written that way just as an excuse to get Gates McFadden into a scene in the episode. heh)

Riker: Geordi, any update on the Vulcan ships?

I suppose, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Geordi: I've checked every sensor display backwards and forwards. If the Romulans altered them, they didn't leave any fingerprints. I can't tie any of them to the surplus yard.

True, however lots of stuff does. For example, how the heck to the Vulcan defense ships get from Vulcan to the Neutral Zone so bloody quick after Spock's forthcoming message? That's a tad odd too.

Worf: The Vulcan ships have entered federation space, maintaining low warp.

The fact that they mobilized would probably be enough. Nobody said the Vulcan defense vessels were near the Neutral Zone, just that they were responding, the Romulans were counting on the element of surprise. The transmission blows that.

Worf: Incoming message from Romulus on all subspace channels.

On the screen we see Holo-Spock at a podium.

Spock: This is Ambassador Spock of Vulcan. By now, Federation sensors are tracking 3 vulcan ships crossing the Neutral Zone. These ships carry a Romulan invasion force and must be stopped. I repeat, these ships carry a Romulan-

The transmission cuts out.

Riker: Doctor, contact Dulisian IV and confirm this distress call. I have a feeling it may prove to be a false alarm. Mr. Worf, how long before we intercept the Vulcan ships?

Let's just hope she doesn't use a SUNspace channel.....

:guffaw:

(On Romulus, in Sela's office)

Data: Communication lines have been terminated at the transmitter, but I am quite certain the message was sent prior to the interruption.
