unfilmed DS9 episode

^ I would have liked to have Garak referencing Ziyal's death in some way, especially when having to work with Damar.

I think there are two main reasons this didn't happen. One, Garak is intensely private. He would not want to discuss something with Damar that he found personally upsetting, and two, such a discussion would serve no purpose other than for Garak to vent. He would have seen that as counterproductive to what needed to be done, primarily motivating Damar to get off his ass and lead. He was putting Cardassia ahead of his own feelings, and it was completely appropriate in the circumstances.

I didn't think that he should have necessarily talked about it, especially not to Damar. But it would have been nice to have addressed it in some way. If it weren't for the scene in which Kira mentions her anger at Damar for his murder of Ziyal, it would have seemed like he just got a blanket pardon by everyone who was close to her, with barely a mention and without as much as a slap on the wrist (since they gave Dukat that weird development "I don't blame you, you shot her but Sisko forced your hand"?! :wtf:) which was a little bizarre to me at least.

I remember reading that Nana Visitor at least wanted Ziyal's death to be addressed more fully in the show's final arc, when Kira and Garak are working with Damar. The writers acknowledged that this made sense and had potential but decided that they just had too much on the fire already to deal with a plot element from early in the prior season. Understandable, though unfortunate.

I think the idea of an episode entirely from the Dominion's point of view during the final season was also something the writer's contemplated, but never got around to doing. This is also unfortunate. I would have enjoyed a full episode focused on the Dominion war effort and especially on Damar and Weyouns errr... strained working relationship.

Beyond that I would have enjoyed an episode that focused on Kira and Worf working together or on a mission together. I always thought there was a lot of potential for this to be an interesting relationship albeit not of the romantic kind. Both characters are religious or at least spiritual, but in different ways. Both are fighters, but Kira's past in the resistance clashes with Worf's ideal of a warrior's honor.

Occasionally there were moments in the show that touched on what could have made this interesting. But the focus on romance in the later seasons, sometimes good, sometimes bad, basically meant that the show had less time for the "odd couple" style friendships that were a strong point of the early seasons, such as Odo/Quark, Garak/Odo, Garak/Bashir and so on.

^^ Yeah, I couldn't see Dukat forgiving Damar for that at all. That made NO sense, except in the context of Behr's campaign to make Dukat teh eeeeevilllllll and make it all about his rivalry with Sisko.

Tosk would probably be on the Dominion's side... it is the order of things.

Wasn't "Broken Link" supposed to make this explicit - that the Tosk/Hunters are part of the Dominion? (AFAIK, a Hunter was supposed to be the one who takes over the Defiant's navigation console on the trip to the Founder homeworld. But for some odd reason this got canned and replaced with a Jem'Hadar doing the same thing.)

Also I believe the Tosk and Jem'Hadar were originally the same 'root' species. Not only do they have the same shrouding ability, but they do look alike...

That's correct the Hunters where supposed to scouts for the Dominion and one would have taken over the Defiants controls. . The script for The Jem'Hadar specifies that the Jem'Hadar decloaking effect is to use the same effect that was used for the Tosk so as to tie them together.

well that and Garak probably realises the hypocrisy - after all he is presumably responsible for the deaths of many people's families, and Ziyal WAS a traitor.

'Treason, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder'.

However such zeal shown againist the enemies of Cardassia and her people should be..applauded and diverted towards a more acceptable end...

The state will ensure justice is served and satisfactory punishment applied. The citizen need only ensure they perform their duty by reporting any deviant activity- which may of course include acts of vengeance not condoned by the state and liable to prove distracting to the efficiency of the justice system. Those unable to trust in the state's efficiency and justice require reconditioning, lest their selfish impulses cause disorder and further opportunity for criminals and traitors to act against us. The Cardassians are a Union for a reason. :)

^ As usual Speaker Nasat has communicated with brevity and foresight to the citizens of our proud Union. For we must always be on alert for those who would dispute our hard fought peace, who preach the virtues of chaos and disorder and would see disloyalty to their own people rule the day.

Remember the children and teach them the lessons of order and loyalty for they are our bright and glorious future which can only thrive if we work and struggle for it.

Let all be vigilant for Cardassia!

Well spoken, indeed.

I might add that our esteemed colleague, may he rest in peace, redeemed himself and his lack of temperance, rising above his petty concerns and personal conflicts to inspire all of Cardassia to unite against a common enemy and drive it from our planet. Such personal acts of temper surely pale against the greater backdrop of union and patriotism. Should Damar be remembered for a too hasty trigger pull, or rather being the flashpoint of the removal of tyranny?

(I know what really happened. I'm still alive, and that's all the real revenge I need.)

For Damar, for Union, and for Cardassia!

The Alamo -- Julian Bashir and Miles O'brien have been trying to win a holodeck simulation of "The Alamo" for some time but haven't succeeded. They decide that maybe Julian's brains and O'Brien's shoulder aren't enough and invite the rest of the crew to partake in the battle. The crew joins in the obsession over the Alamo...and ask themselves what if The Dommion War is winnable.

Q's Revenge: Q returns to Deep Space Nine saying that he and Sisko still have a feud to be settled; as evidenced by the punch. (It unsettled him.) Because they cannot actually fight in a fair situation Q offers Sisko a chance: If Sisko can solve a riddle. (Kind of like in All Good Things, but nowhere near in scale.) If Sisko solves the riddle Q will grant him one wish just like a genie; if Sisko loses, Q gets to enact a punishment of his own choosing. Sisko comes close to solving the riddle, but is just a little off. Q asks Sisko to come forward...And gives him a good punch in the face. Q expresses dismay that they're tied and hints that they should play best two out of three.

The Last Rest Stop in the Quadrant: Quark is dismayed at all of the rules Sisko, Starfleet, and whoever else are in charge of Bajor keep putting on his bar; all the profits he could be getting. He muses that he wishes he could be the one making the rules...and decides to commission his own space station near the Wormhole. I'm not really sure how this one could/would work out...It should obviously end in failure, but it would be fun if he does get something resembling a space station up.

Those are some great ideas Newspaper Taxi - Honestly I would want to watch that, especially the one with Quark..

An ion/plasma storm (in that order yes!!!) is about to past through DS9 and the crew, after preparing the station, hunkers down for a somewhat quiet 'evening' since actvities must be brought to a minimum...

The crew and population of DS9 starts acting strangely, very suddenly...

Dax seems to get very aggressive and short tempered, and after a strane altercation, has to be put in a holding cell...she curses, complaining that her rights have been violated..

Kira suddeny acts drunk and wobbles, slurrs her words, acts silly-yet what can anyone do-she's the station's senior x.o, and they can't seem to find anything actually wrong with her...

Julian for some reason, can't see to concentrate on anything, he appears hyper-active, jittery.

These strange behaviors seem to spread around the station, only Sisko, Odo, and Worf are unaffected.

The problem is that any scans seem to turn up nothing....

Things get out of hand when Sisko is accidently knocked unconscious by another hyperactive Jake trying to show him something he found-Worf and Odo go missing.

Julian can't treat Sisko well because he's suffering from severe hyperactivity, and eventually just leaves saying, "I can't...I can't stay here any longer..."

Kira is up in Opts crying and then singing because she lost control of the station and let everyone down - then she cheerfully looks out to the screen to see the ion/plasma storm and enjoys it- she won't pay attention to anything else..

The storm is weakening the shields of the station due to deglect and lack of monitoring and adjustments...

A distress signal is sent to Bajor, but because of the ion/plasma storm, it's doubtful it made it.

Another general distress signal was sent out as well, but the same outcome is feared...

A Starship finally arrives to find a station 'tilted' with lights flaring here and there.

They somehow gain access, and who steps out of the airlock but Dr. Pulaski!

She gets to the infirmary after literally fighting her way through the promenade-a mess, with chaos, grafitti and strange behaviors ..

After bringing up logs, and scanning, she comes to a conclusion; it was the Raktajino - a strong klingon coffee- from the replicators-

How? She sees Sisko's cup besides her, thinks of getting one herself, then decides to do a little test on the coffee itself, since evidence doesn't show up in the people displaying the behavior.

Somehow the ion/plasma storm caused a serious malfunction with the station's replicator energy feed, mutating the base ingredients in the coffee, making it extra strong, and causing all sorts of psychotic affects.

Worf wasn't affected because of his Klingon physiology, Odo because he is a changeling, and Sisko, because he drinks a lot of it.

She synthesizes a simple antedote that calms neuro activity and programs the stations to release it through the atmospheric ducts...

Later she treats Sisko and he recovers and is up and about- They find Odo and Worf, locked in a old unused room, by someone-they suspect Quark-to take advantage of the mayhem, but can't prove it...

Everyone is back to normal-the place is a mess..............

That one sounds like it could have actually made a pretty good episode. :techman:
