unfilmed DS9 episode

"You Ain't Seen Nothin'..." - As the Dominion War escalates dramatically Deep Space Nine chooses to do a lower decks episode focusing on some junior engineers trying to fix a power coupling. All the action takes place in one cargo bay as other characters stop by to tell the engineers what's going on elsewhere, such as a massive space battle with the Dominion and a fist fight between Sisko and Dukat described as "like totally badass". We see none of these events, which prove very important to the plot of subsequent episodes.

Were they bare-chested and fighting in mud?... Offscreen, of course.

I think it's a real shame that they never made the sequel to "Our Man Bashir" they promised. Couldn't they have made that instead of "The Emperor's New Cloak" or that crappy episode where Ezri visits her family?

agreed..though I didn't know they were going to do a sequel to Bashir. I see BOOK written all over this...paging David Mack..paging Chris...paging Greg!!!

I would have liked to seen a bit more of the holosuite things that Julian and O'Brian did. Not a whole holosuite accident/our people are in danger sort of deal. More of a very small B story-line or a teaser, for instance Odo kayaking with O'Brian- I could never quite picture that.

I thought a certain spy franchise that thinks too much of itself got upset with "Our Man Bashir" and that is why DS9 didn't do another one.

I just watched "Soldiers of the Empire" and I would have liked to seen an episode like that for the Cardassians much more than I would have for the Klingons. It would have been an interesting twist to have a show centered on Dukat on his ship. I have faith the writers could have come up with some way to have one of the main characters surgically altered and on it. Maybe for espionage or something. (I'm assuming something like this hadn't been done- after season 4 I hadn't seen quite a few of the episodes).

There's nothing plain and simple about Garak.

I saw Empok Nor the other day, for the first time in ages. That's quite an episode.

TPTB have commented that they were told to ease off on potentially violating the Bond IP with further episodes like that, and that's why there weren't any.

That is just so dumb. I remember when we saw ELEMENATARY DATA recently..it inspired us to rent YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES which meant, in my mind, $$$ for that franchise...BOND should lighten up too. OUR MAN BASHIR definately put us in a BOND rush about two years ago and we rented my favorite two Bond movies; The Spy Who Love Me and For Your Eyes Only!!

At that time, the Bond franchise was in a bit of a slump. They probably got scared, because Our Man Bashir was better than the shlock they were putting out.

Not full eps, but scenes that I would have liked to have seen.

Sisko telling Jadzia that Worf's new position meant that he was technically second officer now, and not her (not sure if that was ever explicit, but that's how it always came across to me).

Starfleet realizing that having an enlisted man (albeit a damn good one) as chief engineer of the station is insufficient and they tell Sisko to fix it. So he gives O'Brien a holodeck test like Troi's commander test, which he aces with flying colors and re-earns his lieutenant's pips that he somehow lost while on the Ent-D.

Also, an ep where all the Ferengi decide to pack up and leave the galaxy.

Actually, the only one with a specific time-setting is the first one, so set the ep right after Worf comes on board, and do all three at once.

I would also like to have seen Kira and Garak jointly planning Tora Ziyal's funeral, and exploring the differences between the two species' funeral rites. Also, Kira should punch Garak for some reason.

^ I would have liked to have Garak referencing Ziyal's death in some way, especially when having to work with Damar.

^ I would have liked to have Garak referencing Ziyal's death in some way, especially when having to work with Damar.

I think there are two main reasons this didn't happen. One, Garak is intensely private. He would not want to discuss something with Damar that he found personally upsetting, and two, such a discussion would serve no purpose other than for Garak to vent. He would have seen that as counterproductive to what needed to be done, primarily motivating Damar to get off his ass and lead. He was putting Cardassia ahead of his own feelings, and it was completely appropriate in the circumstances.

I remember when I was 17, I actually considered writing an episode to send in to Paramount - remember how they used to let you do that?

The basis for the episode was that upon returning from a mission in the Gamma Quadrant, the crew of the Defiant discovers that Deep Space Nine had been destroyed in a massive attack from the Jem Hadar.

Sisko, racked with guilt decides to travel back in time in order to prepare the station for the attack. An attack that never comes, and it's determined that someone has warned has warned the Jem Hadar that DS9 is ready for them - O'Brien had warned them...but it wasn't O'Brien. It was a Founder who had replaced him...

...as you can see, there was a problem in that the latter part of the story had already been taken care of, in Bashir being a Founder in "In Purgatory's Shadow". Oddily enough, I was writing the story roughly at the time the episode aired...at least I knew I was heading on the same track...I just wish I wrote my episode 12 months earlier! :)
