Underrated Movies

Yeah, Hudson Hawk...I saw it on tv years after it came out and after hearing how horrible it was I found that it wasn't that bad at all.

Terminator Salvation

That movie was atrocious.

GODZILLA (1998)

This wasn't any better.

See? You're still underrating it. Thanks for illustrating my point. :D

On topic: Underrated movie? John Carter, easily.

True.

I wanted to do a shout out for Last Action Hero. While not a great movie it's still a good one and nowhere near as bad as it's reputation.

I love Last Action Hero. :techman:

Fantastic movie - one of my favourites. Charles Dance is fucking brilliant in it as well.

My favorite scene in that is the head-to-head car crash scene in the real world. [Ahnold]"Factory Standard Airbag! No airbag! Who's the dummy now?!!"[/Ahnold]

I'd also like to throw in Kindergarten Cop. I got a good laugh watching Arnold Schwarzenegger teach a bunch of kids in kindergarten while undercover.

"DEHR IST NO BATHRUUM!!!"

Must be something about Arnie's comedies - Jingle all the Way is always on our family DVDs to watch at Christmas list.

That was good, but it wasn't really underrated, though. It got decent reviews and box office, IIRC.

"It's not a tumor!"

I also have enjoyed Jingle All the Way the few times I've seen it. I think Junior was the one I had good expectations for and felt let down.

Maybe he'll tell you to "fuck it" also.
His overreaction had me chuckling.

What overreaction? I replied to your comment with my own opinion on it.

You were the one who felt the need to go the dictionary.com route to pick apart my comment, instead of actually defending your opinion.

There was no overreaction anywhere. Also: there's a difference between something that's underrated and something that is unequivocally bad.

Maybe, but until there's a total consensus (i.e. everybody agrees) even "unequivocally bad" is a subjective opinion.

I think the movie The Warriors is unequivocally bad, yet I know people who have praised it as great entertainment.

I have a friend who loves The Warriors, still I've seen worse. He has the Blu Ray for crying out loud!!!
That is a product of it's time and imo should be viewed as such.

He does love so bad it's good but he has a few '80's Ninja films that even he would say "yeah these are bad but I love 'em". If I could recall their names I'd include them.

Speaking of, I'm going to champion one you called "atrocious." Ghosts of Mars

Come on! It has Ice Cube and Natasha Henstridge and ancient evil Martian cannibal ghosts! And Natasha's gay! How does anyone not love this?!! :)

The Red Violin, Frequency, CLUE, and Last Action Hero would make my list.
Also, Biggles: Adventures in Time , a sort of prototype for Capt Jackof Torchwood. Dark City, which out-Matrixed The Matrix, Robinson Crusoe On Mars-stupid title but a great old movie, Mr. Holland's Opus and Explorers to add a few more to the mix.

Has any one here ever watched the movie "The Beast" aka The Beast of War . It is a 1988 movie about the Soviet war in Afghanistan. i watched it the other day and i was so impressed with the movie.

Did anyone here ever caught the movie. If you haven't, may i suggest you watch it when you are free. Damn good movie.

The link to the trailer is below.

Maybe you folks can mention other underrated movies in this thread?
That is one of my favorite war movies.
